P500 p 500 rear end noise/whine

It's a buzzy beast. I notice it in 4 and 5 too, and haven't had a chance to change out to thicker differential oil yet.

Are you in fourth and fifth gear at those speeds???!!!! I have a 15’ and it doesn’t sound like that.

Downshift, sounds like you're running in too high of a gear for the speed you're going.

I have a new 2018 with 40 miles on it, and it makes the same sound, in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Waiting till 100 miles to change to thicker synthetic gear lube like everybody recommends. I am hoping it goes away, just because my brain tells me it shouldn't make that sound.

My "17" was louder when new, but still makes whiny noises at almost 1300 miles. NICE BUCK!!

500s are knows for noisy rearends. Thicker oil helps. Both my 15 and 17 were noisy.

(CAPS ARE STUCK ON) I DOWNSHIFT WHEN I NEED TO MOST OF THAT CLIP WAS IN THIRD WITH NO LOAD AND ALMOST LEVEL GROUND FOURTH AND FIFTH ARE MUCH WORSE WILL CHANGE FLUID SOON>

Sounds normal to me. You can search here and elsewhere, but many have added a "pad and/or heat shield" under the seat and it will noticeably reduce the noise....

I’ve been to the coke ovens outside Trinidad. By all means, let’s see what we can do when warm weather returns!!!

looking at the Florence coke ovens I had to wonder, how much wood dose it take to fill it. Look around where the hell did enough wood for 5 ovens come from?

I think that coke is a biproduct of coal. There’s no doubt coal mines/shafts nearby.
