I have a 2018 pioneer 1000-5 with 1800 km
I took it ice fishing over the weekend. everything worked as it should. It did get packed with snow but, it didn't seem to hurt it.
After the trip we loaded it into the trailer and drove home. When I got home I couldn't get the machine to go into reverse. The shifter was in the reverse spot, but the display had a dash where it should read 'R'. Eventually I figured out if I held the shifter between reverse and neutral it would read R on the dash, and if I held it in that special spot I could move it. The same goes for all other gear selections.
Has anybody ever experienced this?
I do not live close to a Honda dealer, so any suggestions would be great
thanks,
Chris

The thread should say P1000-5
The P5 might think u have a P500 just for future post.
to answer your questions, you need to adjust your cables.
Also check this..
There is a procedure for shift cable adjustment on pg 12-28 of the service manual.

Also Welcome. Its your first post
we have an unspoken rule with your first post of your machine…
Pics Or It Didnt Happen!!!

I would suggest checking the adjustment on the nuts under the battery tray,

OP, your opening post said your machine was "packed with snow." The shifter problem showed up after that occurred.

Has your machine been parked inside a heated garage since the snow packing occurred? Is it possible that packed snow or ice is binding the shift cables?

The fact that the problem occurred after it was packed with snow suggests a connection between the two incidents.
