From Kevins website. Waiting for a How To thread on a transmission swap. If anywhere, it will be on this forum. LOL.

Just spoke to my local dealer. They are bringing in some P500s for 2021, but he either doesn’t have any further update on changes, or he won’t tell me ...lol. He cannot confirm the rumour of a 520 being brought into the mix. Anyways, going to keep checking daily to see what news comes forward..appreciate if any of you folks can do the same...safe travels!!
Haha....just spoke to another dealer in the area.....he says he can only comment on his own behalf and not Honda’s, but he says he’s 90% certain there will b a P520 for 2021....so who knows?

A lot of guys in this thread are talking (typing?) very matter-of-fact. Is any of this confirmed? Insider info that you're not spilling? I've seen HondaProKevin's site, but I have no idea who that guy is. Trusted source?

Signed,

A guy who's holding out for 2021 deets vs buying a 2020.

P.S. Please spill the beans. Kthx.
Kevin is a decent local guy IMO, bought 4 Hondas from him.

I've got a sales guy from one of the bigger dealers near me that will call me once they get any information. Even with that I'm still checking this forum and Honda's FB page every day...

John Doe's 1,2,& 3 on here don't want any more subpoenas from Honda. So what information you get is what you get. 👨‍🔧

Getting "information" vs. getting a machine at dealerships for sale will be quite the waiting game on the smallest Pioneer at least the version with the mentioned changes. Could still crank out what we have seen to bide time. Could be February before 520 is available. Depends upon how fast the boats from Asia chug and things pass R&D, QC.

I’m getting the baby Pioneer this next spring whether it’s a 500 or 520....not waiting any longer than that...plus I know the 500 is already proven to b solid....so I’m good either way...
I was in your same boat unless I could find a well cared for used one at a great price. But now, the Mrs. is saying she wants us to get a 4+ seater so we can take the whole family... 700-4's I am having a hard time finding (plus everyone says to just go for the 1000-5 at that point), and the 1000-5's are too rich for my blood ... and personally I had my heart set on a P500.

Perhaps two P500's then we all can ride "together" and on 50" trails!

Choices, choices.

Two machines means you can spend twice as much upgrading and adding accessories! I’m all for you taking that plunge. 😂

Its always wise and more fun to ride with a second vehicle. A Nice Mrs. P500. 2018 Pioneer Takeover/ P500 Group Rides - The Honda Side by Side Club!

I believe the speed would be affected by a change in transmission. The DCT would allow for better gearing with less top end engine scream as you're rolling down the road. That' why they placed the electronic governor on these machines.

Both quad engines have the same crankshaft and cam. Honda can easily replace the cam and up the compression ratio for more hp. The 570 Polaris engine has 45 hp and top speed is 58 mph in their RZR. They have a 50 inch 900 RZR too. Oh and 10 inches of travel. The Pioneer 500 has 5.9 inches of travel.

Polaris also has rubber bands that’s known for snapping I would rather have 2 inches of travel on my p5 than own a Polaris 🤣

Belt failures must be due to drivers pressing the limits. Recently sold a 1996 Polaris 400 and 1997 250 Trail Boss with original belts and added a Rancher 420 and a 2017 570 ACE no issues (60 mph). I use the P500 for chores, the ACE for fast and smoother fun. But if I could only keep one it would still be the P500.

you can get another 5mph out of your current unit for less than $200, check the gearing mod link below. My '16 P5 runs 50mph on GPS.
