When I was still in the fire service we had 2 of them on loan to my Dept as water tenders from the US Forest Service. It’s really strange going lights and sirens to a fire at a blistering pace of 56mph (governed out) on a 65mph highway 😂I'm glad you did not post a pic of a deuce and a half. My old butt starts hurting again, everytime I see a pic of one.
Try in back, ENDEX!! "There's your ride" ...CLOWN DEUCIE...and no driver was suicidal enough to say "I'm Full" Our Plt plus rucks T I G H TI'm glad you did not post a pic of a deuce and a half. My old butt starts hurting again, everytime I see a pic of one.
Fondest memory of Goat: Edinburg, Scotland , LEFT hand side of road , ( Goat wider then single lane) pedal and speedo buried no windshield and goggles! WHEEE Yes my Mom did raise one foolish child.Gama Goat. You poor bastard. That used to be the 1SG’s ride. Don’t know why he didn’t get more respect. 3 cylinder diesel right behind the cab…
I was a mechanic back then. Gama Goats were no fun. They had like 56 u-joints in them, between the six wheel drive drive train and the front and rear steering and that flex in the middle.
They were swimmable, but I never saw it happen. Plenty of 113s swam, though. Those are pretty good vehicles, a little light in the armor, though.
Thank you for your service. These are the "rides" you paid me to drive and upkeep. Thank you all deeply.

U-joints huh? Driving @ 30mph on rd march in M113 APC u-joint exploded near left drive sprocket, shaft and whatever ate a basketball size hole in armour floor where you could see the ground , the floor was only 6" beneath my left foot, before I could even pee myself. All of my experiences with APCs was fixing what you guys broke. I never saw a hole in the floor like you describe, but I watched a guy snap the ramp off of one by backing up with the ramp down and against a stump.U-joints huh?
