P1000 Pioneer shifting in 4 wheel drive but not two

Anyone know what would cause my Pioneer to basically be in a limp mode in two wheel drive and not go outta first gear then motor will stall but everything works just fine in four wheel drive??

Have you tried putting on the seat belt?
