Portable showers????

So I’m looking at campsites at Yellowstone and it dawns on me.. they don’t all have shower facilities. I just assumed there would be showerhouses at every campground. And there’s evidently not... Well, that poses an issue. So, any recommendation for portable showers? I’ll haul some water in 5 gallon cans with. I don’t mind to take a bath in a river, lake or pond but what if there aren’t any by our sites? I don’t mind to s*** in the woods... but I’d prefer to wash it before I go to bed.

Could always do the sponge bath thing if nothing else. Heat the water and put in a pot or basin, wash cloth and soap. Washing your hair is the worst part, can be done by yourself but better if someone can pour over your head for the rinse.

I’ll find some links here in a while but we used to use a solar shower when camping - fill it with water and let it sit in the sun while it heats up. Also there are no rinse soaps and shampoos. Now it has been many a year since I used shampoo but I do remember it working or is that was caused .. nevermind. I would go with products made for outdoor use.

Don’t spray it around cats as it will make them insane ( they are safe around after it drys). This stuff last for 6 washes or 6 weeks once applied. Nothing worse than bugs.

So my concern with a sponge bath or non heated option is what if it’s cold out... it’s not just me but the wife, 10 year old and baby that would also need a cleansing. From some of my reading it seems they’re a bit finicky on allowing fires which greatly reduces my options for heating large amounts of water.

Any thoughts on this system? My thoughts were if I bought something decent I could use it on my enclosed trailer “conversion” in a few months.

I use to have a similar setup, think it was Coleman. Worked good. Used a small propane cylinder, put the hose in bucket of water/creek, turned it on and out came hot shower.

That Sawyer is to be sprayed on clothing BEFORE you put them on, and allowed to dry. Works pretty good on ticks in Mo.

I used the Sun Shower for years dirt biking in the Mojave Desert. Just hang the "bag" on the ladder of the motorhome, put a wooden pallet under the shower (the rest were used as firewood), kept a bottle of shampoo on the rear bumper. Used the shower after every ride. No need for a towel. With the Mojave's low humidity, you were dry before you got to the ice chest for a beer!

Correct... While I have not done it you can also use it on Tents and such. I am going to treat my Sun Shade top for my pioneer with it for a little added protection...

Those are pretty neat JTW.. we see them pretty regular on the back patios of houseboats down here when we go to the springs, so they can come out of the cold spring water and have a quick hot shower on the back deck of the houseboat. I like your idea of putting it in the conversion camper.

So @JTW, why the sudden interest in showers?

Must have been at least 5 years since you've had one isn't it?
