No. Got another 700 over a year and a half ago. Already had to put a steering rack in for slop (though from a functional standpoint, it was working fine), and now dealing with my second bout of randomly dying at just over 3000 miles. I talk about it some in here...

For comparison, my OG 2014 was sold at around 8900 miles. For that, I had to do one $3 seal outside of normal maintenance.

Good and bad in everything, I guess. Not that it's done anything catastrophic...but its not showing signs of being the anvil my 2014 was. Maybe I don't hate it enough!

It's probably, argueably, the most dependable machine of the three and has been since the start.

Yeah that's highly debatable. Doesn't have anywhere near the capabilities of the other two but the 500 is bulletproof. IMO there are more P1's out there than any others. The P7 and P5's probably run neck and neck. Talon's are making a surge.

I think I would have to agree. "Normally"...the 700 is pretty bulletproof. The one achilles heel...albeit somewhat rare, is they eat cams on occasion.

When stuff goes wrong on the 500, it tends to be shift motors or sensors. External stuff that's easier to repair.

I was going to add that the only problems I've really seen with the 500's was after they added the AT feature. I always thought the 700 was kind of a big dog with no power until I rode with one at a TO. It was keeping up with the P1's pretty well.

Honestly I think you're right. 700's had the cam and altitude issues and the 1000 had the clutch saga. I don't know of a major 500 issue. We're going on 10 years for the 700 and they're pretty leveled out. What changes will they make that backfire?

Gotta laugh. The SxS manufactures really do seem to keep their production numbers a secret. In all the reading I’ve done over the past few years on SxS’s I can’t remember coming across any production numbers. Always great to speculate by what we see, or what the dealers might say, but real numbers from the plants would truly be interesting.

I suspect production, though hot now, could be quite variable, sorta like RV’s and boats, as it’s all discretionary spending for the most part.

In post 5 I provided you data from Honda’s own news website celebrating the 300,000th Honda SXS rolling off the assembly line in November of 2020. And FWIW, according to Car and Driver, the Honda P5 is the most popular selling entry level SXS of all.

Yep that’s correct. Saw your post #5. Original poster was curious about production numbers of the P1k, 700 and 500. Car and Driver article describes the models well but doesn’t cite production numbers.

Has anyone ever wondered what the production/build ratio of 1000/1000-5 vs 700/700-4 vs 500 machines built in a months time or a years time is? I got to thinking about it and was just curious as to what the ratios between machines produced actually is.
Not directly related to your question of production numbers, but interesting info about machines brought to our Pioneer Takeover event each spring 2016-2019. Says a lot about people who trail ride and breakdown of models.

Info from Honda Digital Factbook 2021. You can get statistical info on every model of car / such produced but all ATV/UTV production is all lumped together production numbers from 1979 through 2020 screenshot below. Full report attached pdf format.

They are tight lipped on the numbers. From what I’ve seen, Bombardier, JD, Polaris and others do the same. I would assume from that a very competitive market. Dealers may get some insight on it all during their shows, conferences or manufacturer events.

Honda does show annual production capability at S.C. plant of 100,000 SxS and 100,000 ATVs.

I'll give you a pickled buffalo tounge, Daniel Webster cigar, and a Hondasxs.com sticker if you can provide exact annual production by model numbers. That's the question being asked.

the 500 also has the most motor upgrades than any of them. i think you can get a 69% reduction for one which means less likely to burn clutches in the mud like the 1000s would when their only options are i believe 25,35% not sure on the 35 but i heard or seen it posted somewhere. the 500 is the only honda you can just do arms and a reduction and go to 8 inches on the tire and not worry about it lol.

Ooo tempting offer.

Just to back fill your take over attendance data, here is a picture from the 2015 ride (of vehicles that count).
Taken in the morning at camp before we headed out to ride:

That lone p500 was almost new, I don't think many of us had even seen one before.
