P1000 Rear Bed Strut

Anyone have a good way to compress the bed assist strut when reinstalling it?

Take the rubber snubbers out of the bed hinge. This will allow you to raise the bed about another inch and the mounting post will lign up with the now fully extended strut.
As a side benefit, if you leave the snubbers out you gain quite a bit of bed angle for easier maintenance.

Just use a ratchet strap and pull the bed up slightly higher against the bump stops.
