Hey guys, 2021 P1k. When turning and driving forward i hear a noise like the treads are hitting plastic or something. probably about one noise per wheel rotation. checked under there for any sign of rubbing, etc. but haven’t turned anything up. Anybody else experience this?

Yup all stock. Turf mode, but i’ll try the other modes to see if the noise keeps up.

Is it coming from the front or rear?

I think the first step would be to drive it slowly in a circle and have another person walking alongside, so you can better identify where the sound is coming from..

Had a rear axle go bad on my 700. It started making a clicking noise when I would drive forward and turn. I posted a video in this thread. Does it sound like this?

Sounds similar for sure. I’ll check the boot area out. Basically a brand new machine since june and i don’t ride rough at all. mostly farm work in turf mode. only makes the noise while turning.

Only takes one stick to get in there and tear the boot

It sounds like you are describing a CV shaft click. A friend of mine ruined a CV shaft on a stock 1000-3 around the 900 mile mark. It just started clicking.

Update- no tears or obvious damage on the boots. Aluminum guard plates are in good shape too.

Only thing i can think is that i drove accidentally on pavement in 2wd for a day or two? Would that possibly damage the cv shaft?

leaning more toward one of the axles getting borked. UGH. i drive almost exclusively in turf mode over pavement and farm stuff thinking it’s better on the gears to not have both rear wheels locked together. false?

You are correct. If you are on paved surface you should be in turf.

My Dad had a similar scenario at around 100 miles on his p1k le. Dealer said it has happened before on other units and replaced the shaft under warranty.

Running in 2 lock for a bit on pavement isn't going to trash your drivetrain, it's mostly just annoying and hard on tires. Yeah, I guess it could cause long term wear issues, but what you're talking about didn't break anything.

I was more inclined to think the noises you heard were the result of being in 2 lock while turning...

Been riding a little bit over the past few days, paying attention to the noise. It happens in all modes, not always, but most often when turning. Turning left i think, but maybe right too. Gonna call the dealer tomorrow and have it looked at as a warranty repair.

After reading everything you have said.
I would look more into possibly loose lug nuts, loose/bad ball joint, loose/bad wheel bearing.
Go around, and grab the top of each tire and push in and out as hard as you can 3 or 4 times. Really shake it hard.
Lug nuts, you will see. Ball joints and wheel bearings, you will feel.
.
Have a good day
