It's impossible for me to get thru Utah without stopping on my way to my Sister's place in Phoenix.

There's a connecting trail up on that edge but I couldn't find a way up there. :(

As Lake Powell recedes from the draught, it leaves 'surprises' a loooooong way from the waterline. This guy was 100 yards from the waterline and 15 miles from the highway - the truck had been there so long, the mud was dry. They busted their butts trying to get out before giving up.

That's Lake Powell in the distance, along with that truck -

Had a pretty good ride today. Box canyon to Martinez canyon to Martinez mine (got in about 2-1/2 miles of walking for that) then out past another old stage coach stop. The mine operated between 1880 and 1971 intermittently, underground and surface silver and lead primarily.

It’s not too bad of a hike. About a third of the way in you can stop at the remaining cabins and rest and then it’s another 3/4 mile or so to the mill. Above the mill on the right is the actual underground mine. Unfortunately, none of us old guys were up for that hike. I’d recommend doing it befor it gets much hotter. There is, however places with lots of shade in the canyon and pack plenty of water.

Yes...and that shade and subsurface water is exactly why you can't drive up to it anymore. I'm more worried about leaving the machine unattended than anything.

We left 5 machines at the the gate and just pulled the keys and any obvious valuables out and put them in back packs then took them with us. Some of the guys left their goodies and lunches at the cabins. Everything was fine. The guys that steal stuff know the access to the mine is closed for vehicles and are too lazy to walk.

We rode some gnarly trails South of W Fly Gap road to today here are a couple of pictures of some water features we rode by, the 25 miles beat the crap out of us, probably 3 miles total of road to and from our parking spot at a friends place. The first picture is of a 18 foot water fall, second is a riffle above the water fall. I was proud of my LE buddies, they only chickened out once and asked me to go first, I showed them the line and they came right up it, only person we had to winch was Dad on a 4 wheeler. Nothing but rocks and ledges today. We had a blast!

Took a loaner out for a gravel road ride. Tie rod and and a rear axle. Not too bad for me. Anybody else got a machine I can drive? @Plumber32
Makes a krx feel like a cheap gas station buggy doesn't it? It's got the correct balance of stereo and sub, exhaust note and half windshield to keep you awake to get home. Grand design.
