Looking for a little input on the different skid plates out there. tell me which one you have and what you like and dislike about it. I have done a little research on the two big hitters in the field(TrailArmor and SSS), but want some input. I may build my own but not sure if its worth my time to do that.

I'm running the factory utv uhmw. Ran them on my Polaris rzrs and had good luck so I bought it. It works great not hard to install. I did have to cut the front part of the wheel well guards because there was no way they were going to work. Tires would have rubbed like crazy.

I looked at all of them, my choice if I had bought was the SSS, but with shipping, exchange and such, I opted for b building my own out of 1/2" buckboard. It took a couple days but honestly I was messing around and didn't care about time. The material cost me about 300$ for 2 sheets of board and I have LOTS left to mess with. I want to make A-arm guards. The one picture shows some trimming left. The other to show I formed it over the bash plate on the front.
I would make it again in a heartbeat. Now that I understand cutting, which was just a sawzall, and measurements to overlap the sheets like the SSS brand, I could make another in a day.

I like the looks of that, I can get the materials locally. I guess i just need to get a sheet and lay it out. Does anyone have a template for a 700-4, or want to remove theres and draw it out on a white bedsheet. Then they can send it to me.

I have the cardboard I used for mine as a template. Using the old one only would leave you short.
What I did was stand my machine on end, then use cardboard from a large box and make the template. Its the same setup as the SSS. Another picture of the During with the cardboard on.
Then I bought some skid plate washers from a local ATV wrecker, bought 40 new grade 10.9 bolts and went to town. I used a router to overlap the sheets by 3/4", drilled a 7/8" hole after recessing the area.
Then on the outer rails, I used nut-serts, same thread as the main sheet which are m6x1.0. Given your location, I would recommend looking for a single sheet of the UHMW HDPE as they are sheets that are 5x10 where I needed 2 sheets of 4x8 to get what I needed.

Also I Ended up trimming the area ahead of the rear wheels more than shown and the front where its curved, I cut off. Bending the front in the cold up here was a challenge.

Thanks for the ino. I think ill try your idea and make a pattern from a large box. How hard was it to bend? (Behind front tires)

Because it was well below freezing, I didn't bend the area behind the tires. The front was not bad. I have a 220v space heater to warm it then concentrated heat with a heat gun, from there I used some clamps and a board to bend it. If I had decided to do this in July, it would have been much easier.

I think i will use a router to make a shollow grove on the top side and then try to bend.
What thickness did you use?
