Is that for the year?I'ma need a minute . . .
Is that for the year?
I found the 'boring' thread interesting, as I suspect I'm going to run into something like this one day, probably soon, and like you, it will be a learning experience, full of anger and frustration! I definitely need to up my tool game...Skids reattached, all good.
What a boring thread.
Thanx
Seriously, a big 'thank you' to @lee for the plus nut / x nut idea. Seems more secure than the rivnuts. I only heard one of them snap from overtightening.
You're telling on yourself.@The Green Goat
I'd try and m6 tap first you might get lucky and just need to clean up the threads.A nearby substitute anchor is indeed the plan for that spot. but with a +nut or two.
I just need a plan for the spot with bad threads. I need to use that spot. I don't know if I can re-thread it or not.
Do I have to go bigger; from M6 to M8? Or should I try to rethread with M6? Or try to ream it out with 3/8"?
Was wondering the same thing. Looks like the die is longer though. Can you use a rivnut tool to install a plus nut.
Can you use a rivnut tool to install a plus nut.
Where'd you get the plus nuts?

Was the plus nut tool worth the cost?
I've seen a DIY "tool" that's just a bolt with a thick oversized nut and a couple of washers... Much cheaper then the specific tool!
I also feel like using new bolts in all locations is a good idea.
So if my math is correct, I'll need a minimum of 31 m6 bolts?
And minimum of let's say 20 plus nuts for when I mess up?
