Still looking at trailers for my 1000-5. Found these today, decent pricing, just dont know the reputation of the brand both are single axle. The red one is a 14x76 high line HD with pipe trailer ($1850) and the black one is Dakota pipe trailer 12 x 76 ($1695) Also found a 12x 82 angle iron trailer winch as single brake axle and a spare included for $2100 which is made by cowtown? Any thoughts? Thanks

Just cause it's got the brakes and tandem I'd go for the OWTOWN.....but honestly any of them would do. I towed my P1K5 in a pos single axle trailer for a good year before I upgraded trailers. Always kept bearings greased and good tires on it and never let me down. Made several 1,800 mile round trips from FL to TN with no problems.

My 2 cents 👍 good luck

The two single axle trailer's axles are pretty far back, you might have problems getting proper tongue weight (10-15% of total weight).

My Talon on a 14'er with 250 lb. TW. The P1Ks have similar weight distribution.

Interesting catch on the axles. Wonder if it was just the angle of the picture? I will email the guy tomorrow to get some measurements regarding where the axle actually sits relative to the length of the trailer.

Do you get a lot of flat tires? Seems strange why you would carry the extra weight. Plug kits and a paintball gun air bottle works really well, and it only weighs 5 pounds

Buy once..... cry once. If you're doing it, get a tandem axle trailer and be done.
Had a tire blow out ONCE on a single axle..... NEVER again.

I explore the desert backcountry and Rocky Mtn. high country solo 'a lot' so it's a safety issue.

How I ended up with 2 spares - I wanted the Dirt Road Fabrication bed extender/spare carrier but it was only available for the four seater at the time. I had a trip planned and needed a spare 'now' so I bought the Factory UTV spare carrier. Covid happened, my trip didn't. DRF got the 2 seat version completed and I bought it - two spares. I have right at 6k miles with the setup now (including some 'enthusiastic' speeds) and haven't found any reason to remove the FUTV unit.

I didn't have 2 spare knuckles, hubs, rotors or calipers but a second spare wheel and tire would have helped when we got rocks stuck in both front wheels and shattered them both

Just thought you could eliminate 50-60 pounds. It’s amazing how big of hole some of the tire plugs will fill. I too carry a spare, but have never had to use it. I have had to plug one and re-fill it with the paintball air bottle/tire fill adapter. It works great.

I carry plugs and a pair of small pumps (one for backup) and hope to never need the spares. I'm usually an ole guy trail rider, explorer, sight seer, photo taker and haven't noticed the extra weight.

I hear you! I guess the question now is a 12 tandem the right size

100% tandem. Not much difference in brand name. Pretty much all of them have Dexter axles. Like the past few post said, you will eventually want a bigger trailer. For one SxS, I prefer the 14ft tandem. Breaks on one axle is plenty for a utility type trailer. Also a 14ft trailer is as big as you can get and fit in two parking spaces without sticking out on the front and back of the spaces with a full size truck. I also have a 24ft trailer for back up. Lol
