The mongrels are great except in mud. They are useless in mud, but do great in rock and sand. The rocktanes no clue, but I'm sure someone can help.

I can't speak for the Mongrels but the Roctanes seem to be a great all around tire. Not great in mud but I've hit some pretty nasty mud holes and they do alright. I've abused these Roctanes for a while now and they are truly tough.

Remember that the Roctanes are "8ply construction" what's the construction of the mongrels? They are 10 ply rated but that doesn't mean they are truly 10 ply construction.

Hrdman, have bought new tires? I had the 28" mongrels on my can am and they work great in the desert of AZ. The two reasons I bought those were they are 10 ply or at least rated and DOT approved for the highway. The other reason is that they are a harder rubber meaning they will get better mileage on roads or hard desert ridding.

I have 500 miles on my P1K-5 LE with the stock bighorns 2 that came with it and I can see a lot of wear already. I will be buying them again as soon as these wear out

I have 500 miles on my Bighorns as well and there is a noticeable amount of wear. I'm thinking a light truck mud tire or a SXS all terrain tire like the Mongrels or Sedona Rock-a-billys would be a good choice

Ditto, same here with Roctane XD tires, I have had them on 3 SXS and so far only 1 flat in 5 years and 3500 miles of riding with them. Great all around excel on rocks, recommend running 15-18 psi as per sidewall label works fine and have never run one off a bead, my axles have snapped 3x before the tire spun off in rocky crags.

I got 9,800 miles out of my 27" 8 ply Mongrels on my Yamaha YXZ. Just put 10-Ply Mongrels on my P1000-3.

Hondabob, what kinda country you ride in? Desert, mountains, creeks and mud?? This will help people decide based on the terrain they ride in/on.

We have gumbo mud and I usually avoid it. Mostly desert, forest trails, with a little mud. Rain rides are on rocky and sandy terrain. The light mud rinses off easily. The tires don't work well in mud. The tread fills and the tires turn into a slick. High rpm clears them but that makes a huge mess.

Have a 2017 P100-3eps with stock tires and steel rims. Did you install 4 of the same size, or did you get one wider than the other for the rear? Factory tire tread is disappearing fast with only 350 miles of rocky trail.

Good question. I have wondered the same. Wish I knew
