P500 Sub harness with any winch?

I bought a honda sub harness for the P5. Curious if I can use that sub harness for any winch I’d decide to put on it? I understand the green wire is for the winch, but is that only for the Honda brand winch? Thanks for any info!

You can hook anything you want to that sub harness, just remember that the whole circuit is rated for 10 or 15 amps combined. The harness has four hots and two grounds, great for powering switches and low draw led's. Main winch power goes directly to a battery, shortest run and fat cables. Circuit breaker is a bonus, I use this one. Welcome to the forum!

Like @trigger said, the harness wires are limited in total amp draw, great for key-on relays for high amp equipment like winch, power steering, etc. But it will directly power other stuff like smaller lights, radio, horn. Winches can draw 200+ amps.

P500 - Call for winch wiring help??

Been having PM with newer member @HP5NC about wiring winch, and suggesting a run of heavy guage wire to under hood/junction posts and using a switched circuit breaker near battery. He plans to add front light bar, etc later. Searched some old threads but wondering if someone has a simple line...
