Thank you for the info! 11 is definitely a bit much real estate to give up in a P5. But the info is very handy for the Jeep Wheelin. I will prolly order a bigger tablet for that.

I have the Samsung A7, I got it for a steal of $68 on Black Friday.
The A7 are a good value but have been known to drop GPS in heavy foliage. LTM specifically addresses them on their website. They work just have a much weaker Sat reception. FYI

I just updated my Samsung tablet to an 11 inch version. I have a subscription to Lifetime Trail Maps that is my main trail maps. But I also have Gaia, Avenza and OnX all loaded on my tablet. I usually have a couple apps open and record tracks on all at the same time. I have found none of the apps have everything available.

The flipup mount is by a guy named Trey Brock on FB.
Hoping he will have a booth at TO this year.

Not sure he does anything for Pioneer, but I'm sure he would be willing to work on something?

Last I spoke to him he was working on a ROPS mount.
I'm happy with my ROPS mount solution that I linked in this thread, all 4 pieces below:

Here is what I use attached to Roll Bar: https://www.amazon.com/RAM-Coated-U-Bolt-Strap-Diameter/dp/B007AM1PXW?tag=sxsweb24-20

Adjustable Tablet holder fits 7" - 11.5" tablets: https://www.amazon.com/ARKON-Universal-Adjustable-Compatible-TAB005KL/dp/B0C8QXWS3M/?tag=sxsweb24-20

Ball to attach to the ARKON Tablet mount:
https://www.amazon.com/Mount-RAM-B-238U-1-31-Inch-Diamond-1-Inch/dp/B002KO5XVU?tag=sxsweb24-20

Arm to connect both balls:

Hey @KyGal83 - just saw your thread. I use and recommend OsmAnd for mapping. Especially if you've got a bit of geekiness in you and want to learn how to edit gpx files.

OsmAnd is free and open source. You can download maps for anywhere, and build your own maps from your recorded trails.

The difference between OsmAnd and Gaia is that you dont have overlapping trails after you've been through there more than once, and you can color code your trails based on any criteria you want.

Thank you! I am a bit of a geek on this stuff. I love mapping and planning routes. I love driving but love navigating just as much.

That's exactly the setup I use. But I only use the ROPS mount when I'm riding solo. I'm pretty sure I got the idea from you. My old tablet holder would allow the tablet to bounce out on extremely hard hits.

I would also like to mention that I originally had the Ram Mount brand for my 8" tablet. When I upgraded to an 11" tablet all I needed to purchase was the end cops, this allows you to reuse the base portion of the mount.

I would order that setup 25 units at a time for Ride Royal Blue and Eagle Rock Campgrounds to sell as a solution for LTM tablets. I know of at least 100 units out there exactly like this and not one has ever broken or received complaints it wouldn't stay put, etc.

I still have one of those RAM holders on a shelf for my very first tablet that was a 10". may give it a whirl again when I update my current Galaxy Tab A 8" 32GB (2018) to the new Galaxy Tab 9FE 11" 256GB that's just came out at end of October 2023.

Found a picture of it from August 2016 in use.

I use this mount, it's all metal. https://amzn.to/3InAtwv

I modified it to have dual mounts to overhead rollbar to keep it extra sturdy. I'll see if I can find picture.
Definitely mounting up by roof keeps them cleaner and dry while eliminating virtually all sun glare.
