I have gone through some issues upgrading tires to the sizes I wanted so I thought I would share some of the info I collected. My 1000-5 LE is stock height with no suspension mods.
I purchased a set of LE take-off wheels/tires and sold the tires to put towards a 2nd set of tires. I went with Tensor Regulator 28x10 on all 4 corners which fit with no issues at all. I wanted some less aggressive tires for summer so I could run them on the pavement, would be less harmful to my lawn and the Regulators are also DOT approved if I decide to go the street legal route. Great tires so far!
The set of factory Bighorn 2.0 27x9/27x11 tires sold quickly and I got a decent amount of cash for them so I decided I would replace the original factory tires with a taller set. This would give me a higher stance and more aggressive tread for the snow drifts I'll run through in winter. This is where it got interesting.
I purchased a set of 28x9/28x11 Maxxis Bighorn 2.0's because I thought the height would be pretty close to the regulators (off set could be used for spare) and the factory tires did pretty well in the snow last year. When they showed up I was shocked to find that the height was significantly shorter than the factory 27's. I talked to my tire guy and neither of us could figure out why they were so short but luckily he let me return them and order another set.
I did a lot of research to find my best option for height, tread and what would actually fit. I ended up on the 29x9/29x11 Maxxis Bighorn Originals. I finally got them mounted up this past weekend and they fit without rubbing sitting level. I haven't articulated the suspension much but so far so good.
