I have stock 12 rims and 26 inch tires on my 2016-1000-5. I want to upgrade to a 14 inch wheel, and a 27 or 28 inch 8 ply tire. Looking for some recommendations that wont break the bank, but be a nice upgrade. Some of the wheels Ive been looking at are Sti, and Itp's. Tires have been dirtcommanders, and rip saws. Thanks John

I have the same size and tire combo and can say they with with just a lift. I never tried them without the lift so I can't help you there.

If you are willing to up size to a 15in wheel you open the door to run light truck tires those can be had cheap. I have under $500 for new rims and tires and they will dry rot before you wear them out.

Here is what I bought the price has come down again.

I have thought of going to 15’s but worry about the weight difference being hard on parts. Am I over thinking this?

They are heavier you can feel it, I accelerate easier than I do on my lighter smaller tires. I have 130 miles on mine so far and nothing negative yet but i don't drive hammer down WOT everywhere I go.

We do mostly gravel roads/black top riding but use it on the farm and hunting. I figured if it felt like it was lugging the machine (hard on clutches) I could manually shift but didn’t know

Black top, gravel and lime rock roads is why I went to the light truck tire. When I go out with @Brett002 we do 100 miles easy, our last trip was 128 I was wearing out my mudlites and my silverbacks. My LT's are a M/T but ride smooth I need to have them balanced at 50mph I get a vibration at 55mph it goes away.

Do you notice a stiffer ride with the heavier sidewall?

I run them at 10psi front and rear it has made my ride smoother bumps don't feel as harsh the lift kit stood my shocks up making it a rough ride but the LT's after 128 miles I wasn't tired or fatigued. Normally when we do 100 miles on my other tires it takes a day to recoup my back and fatigue. I drive to meet Brett 1hr then we ride for 6 hours my wife drives back and I sleep with my Lt's I could have drove home I wasn't sleepy.
