This has become a common occurrence when idling down a steep hill, transmission in manual mode. P-500 will start freewheeling. A light touch on the gas pedal will reengage it. Does not seem to matter which gear it is in, but notice it most creeping downhill in fist gear.

Curious if anyone else has had this issue?

One way bearing. I believe it's in/under the centrifugal clutch, but @HondaTech can clarify that.

Are you using "motorcycle/ATV" oil? Seems like I remember way back when there started to be more issues when running the auto stuff, that one of the symptoms was sometimes "slipping" one way clutches in starters, etc.

Thank you for the responses. Sounds like time to go to the dealer.
