Just bought a 5P and salesman told me something that just didn't seem correct - "if you are driving below 30mph always be in low". He was nice guy to deal with so I didn't want to question him but the manuals high for hard ground and light loads. I was driving it around the neighbor hood and L seems way to low for street driving at or below 20 mph.

No need to do that on easy ground with no load. Keep the revs up a little though so it's not "chugging "

For heavier load or Off road probably yes. You'll get a feel pretty quick. Play around with the paddles they definitely aren't a toy like I had thought originally. Basically if you feel the r's are too low or you hear any chugging. IMO if the motor is spinning well the clutches engage quickly and won't burn up.

I always run low gear and manual mode when I'm trail riding. once we get back out to the gravel or paved road, I go back to high gear. if you're consistently below 25mph, then you should be in low.

I guess I'm the opposite. On hard ground, I'm always in auto mode but manually up shifting to get the rpm down as much as I can to keep it quieter. I seldom use low range.

There I go with my quiet thing again!
