if i can build it similar to this set up with either 30 or 32s. which im really thinking about 32s to match my sxs. but will probably do a truck tire. at 30 inches my center point will be about 20 inches off the ground and probably could go more depending on how good i set up the suspension. which would be similar to my bike clearance. which is what im looking for. something im not dragging through every hole. about a 6 ft deck give or take. 5b8782bf43e917673cab066a08b0145f

ok so iv been thinking about building a trailer to pull behind my sxs for a while now. just couldnt figure out exactly what i wanted. until now. i want something thats not gonna hang up if going through a rut but also has a little suspension. with upcoming Take Over coming up and now i have some spare rear bearing since the portal upgrade.plan on basically rebuilding a pioneer rear suspension setup but about 6 inches wider as the axle set up for the trailer. so here is a list of things im looking for.

1. rear shocks from a 700 i know a few guys have upgraded to the 1000 shocks and the commander shocks

2. rear axle outer piece. if someone has broken a rear axle and still has the outer piece id like to get that. only really need the outer cup with shaft splines dont have to be good. just need the threads good

3. if anyone has wore out a hub id gladly take that off your hands.

if anyone has any of these things laying around that are going to the Take Over. id appreciate if you could bring them.

My brother and I took an old boat trailer cut it down and put 2x6 floor in it and use it has ton of weight capacity I haul over a Rick of fire wood at a time with it...it’s 5’x 7’ and pull it behind my 1000-5

actually thought about that. but its a little too heavy and too long. i think im going to run 2 link setup instead of dual control arms. im basing the size of the platform off my brothers polaris sportsman. but also be able to shove the tongue under my pinny on the 16 ft trailer.

Here's another alternative to consider:

It's a little pricier but larger and stronger then a HF trailer kit. The trailers are made by a trailer manufacturer in NC not Beijing.
ihave one similar to that that my dad uses. we are constantly dragging the axle and it through everything. even got some tree kickers on it. but its not tall enough.

Ya, I realize that. It was just the first one I came across. I'm sure with a little looking, you could find a less pricey set.

I'll be watching this thread, very interested to see where you land...my needs are more simple, mostly just hauling firewood and any firewood-related equipment (chainsaws, chains, peaveys, axes, etc).

I just bought this 5'x8' hoss off a guy a couple towns over, he said the frame was welded on top of a Willys Jeep axle. I don't know one way or the other but I can tell you it's built like a brick s*** house:

Anyone besides Trigger and Rubicon5 actually build a small, light weight Overlanding trailer? I'm considering doing this before the next group ride in Arizona.

I picked up this little 3x5 or so trailer for behind my 700-4. The guy said he towed it behind his Toyota Tacoma down the interstate all the time 😳. I personally wouldn't go faster than about 20mph with it.
Anyways, it has 4 lug 4 inch wheels on it, and since it needs new tires, I am going to put some ATV tires on it. Anyone have experience in finding some spacers or something to adapt the 4" lugs to ATV spacing?

Btw, I let my kids each pick a can of paint and go to town painting the trailer. They had an absolute blast doing it!

Looks like you have the same trailer frame I have, a Harbor Freight build your own type. Picked it up at a yard sale, guy said he pulled it behind a Corvette. I used the wheels that came with it, 4 on 4", but had to add spacers to clear ATV tires. Got those spacers online from a company that mainly deals with golf cart stuff. I threw some cheap Sun F's on it just to give it a look and a little more height.

my dad has one like that that he put tree kickers on so if he had to turn tight the trailer wouldnt hang on the tires. almost exactly that size but just old and wore out. and rednecked lol
