I’ve been commissioned to build up my brother in laws P1000-5. It’s a 2021 that he brought to Takeover this year. Only 100 miles on it. Looking for must haves to get him started.

He purchased with dealer installed:
- Honda Winch
- Snow plow
- Honda poly windshield (not impressed)
- Light Bar.

Plans so far include:
- Factory UTV 1/2” UHMW skid plate
- SuperATV front offset arms
- Garage Products bushings for above arms
- TYT TH8600 radio (Thanks @elkaholic )
-Tires and wheels. 28”-30”
- EBay upper a-arm reinforcement brackets.
- Spare Tie rods

What other must haves? My experience is with a P500 and Talon, so I’m not as up to speed on the 1000 except what I’ve seen a few individuals in here break!

Any suggestions on Rock Sliders to protect outer floor bars? They have already taken a beating!

Looks good 👍

I'd run some tubing inside that bottom outer bar to reinforce it. If its not too banged up already. Some other guys have welded a pc of angle steel the entire length also.

I ran the jei rock sliders/tree kickers and my rails were still straight except where one of the brackets got pushed up into it. But better then nothing

Any good bolt on options to protect? It’s not too bad yet.
Ruffstuff tube gussets are bolt on, I also used 1" VHB to hold them in place.

1 per side if you do the outer rail, I did the inner and outer rails plus used these under my oil pan crossmembers

I'd do the angle on the side bars. You could always drill a few holes and run some carriage bolts through if you didn't want to weld them on. You'd need to drill and tap them on the bottom either way to run the skid plate bolts through. This helps too since you can ditch the self tappers with the steel angle being tapped and use real bolts.

Definitely do something about sliders to protect the outer bars BEFORE they get bent. I bent mine REAL bad at Tackett and took a lot to even get them close to being straight before reinforcing with angle iron. I used my skidsteer to apply pressure to straighten them. After that I bolted and weld the angle under the tubing and added simple 'sliders' to the side. I wish I had done that to begin with ...... lol

2x2 angle iron is what I did. It's cheap and very effective. My rails were picking the door up the were bent so bad. I used clamps to pull it back down to the angle iron and tack welded it as I went. They've taken some good hits since with zero deformation.

I ran the bolts through the skid angle and the tube a some additional strength.

Finally getting start on this

Factory UTV skid was great quality as always. This is the 3rd one I put on. Went with the metal bars to reinforce and just sandwiched them in between

Had to modify the holes in skid some to attach the plow bracket. Worked out real well

what kind of tubing and size ? i need to do that before mine is crushed
I just did mine after 2 yrs of procrastinating  I used 1.25" black iron pipe. If yours isn't as beat up as my ROPS bars were then it "should" go in easy. I had to persuade mine a bit 😂😂
