What's everyone like for a zero turn mower?

I have a Kubota zd323 Dad has a skag turf tiger... both have around 600 hours and no real issues. If I were buying today I would look at grasshopper for the front deck. They just ride so much better than the mid mounts.

I went with the big dog 52' seemed to have the best warranty and I love the Kawasaki engine line. My last mower had a Kawasaki and I put over 2,000 hours in it. I'm only on my third summer with this mower and going great so far. If I could do it again I would have went with the next size up so I could have serviceable hydro's.

I have a 1951 Ford 8N w/ 60 inch Muatouri finish mower for the wide open rough stuff, I could mow on Sunday morning in my come to meeting clothes and no one would know I had been mowing, then we have a Hustler 48 inch for trimming around the small stuff. And get covered in crap! We mow 5 acres.

yes! auto steer.
I figured, a good friend of mine is a real farmer, he paid for his GPS in his hay fields in one year from the savings in spray dope and production increases.

Ive got a Hustler Raptor.

My brother has a Raptor SD as he does some commercial mowing.
Both have been in the shop numerous times for warranty work. I would not recommend them. My brother is offloading his and going to a different mower.

What kind of repairs, we've had ours for three years, but just use it for trimming. Only thing we've done to ours are sharpen the blades and change oil and filters once a year. I think it's got 180 hours on it now. I really like rolling around on my 1951 Ford 8N a lot more than riding the Zero turn.

Last summer the fan kits on the transmissions exploded. Threw the belt off and screwed up some other stuff.

Brother had a cross piece break and mess things up. It was a known issue and had a tsb out on it. He has also had issues with his hydro steering. He is talking about dropping 10 grand on a grasshopper.

I am looking for an 8n with a brush hog to mow around my pond and mow trails to my tree stands

You should really think about something with a pto disconnect. Makes life easier!

It will keep you from running over things with the PTO engaged. 8 n's are Super old school, they were used before a 601 Workmaster. A zero turn will desemate an 8n on mowing time.

So I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new ZTM. I only have an acre of lawn now but the new build next year will have 3, maybe 4 acres of lawn so I want one big enough for that. I'm thinking 52", something semi-commercial but not a full on commercial grade mower. Or if someone has one smaller than that they really like. What should I steer away from? I don't want to have break the bank either.
i cut maybe 5acres. have jazz pro with joystick so i can drink beer

On smooth ground, the 8N will make you feel like going to the dance later on rough ground! On my wide open stuff I use my 8N and trim with my zero

A lot that size look for a used commercial unit. I bought a used Snapper Pro with the Kawasaki engine retired from a lawn business for cheap it was traded into my local mower guy on an new unit I picked it up for $1,200 5 years ago still going strong. Snapper produced a home owners unit and a commercial unit both look identical the difference is the speed and the serial number, I can cut grass at 9mph the home owners unit does 6/7mph.
