I have two Viper 4500lb winches installed and other than swapping ropes out about once a year from heavy use and them starting to fray badly I’ve had no issues yet.

I have the Superwinch Terra 45. When I first got I did not expect to use very much and a dang sure did not plan on using to help winch up the final part of a hill a time or too. I have been very happy with. Only exception being where I filled part of the free spool switch area up with mud - It still worked - just was harder to turn until I got cleaned out. I would not hesitate to buy again.

Has warn ATV winch quality improved? I have had two of them fail. One lost all internal lubrication and blew up, other the mounting points were so week that they failed.

In my opinion and from my experience, the Chinese ones are just as good of not better at a fraction of the cost.

Had 3 venom brand units since those two failed warns and have had great luck with them. One on front was used was used for plowing.

This brings my second question. Anyone have or seen a rear mount for a winch on the 1000-5? I had a winch on front and rear of my RZR and it helped a lot of times to have one in from and one in back.

I use my Warn for plowing snow and other than going through cables, I have had no issues. I was concerned that I might blow it up when I used it to pull a not running 8n Ford tractor onto a trailer but it did so well that I did it again later with another dead tractor. So I don't know if they are having issues but mine sure hasn't.

I could make one like that out of 1/8 in plate steel prob be 50 shipped and with mount bolts that was @ohanacreek design if he doesnt minded me copying it

I stole the idea from someone else and cleaned it up. I made one for someone since I had a spare winch plate. That is ¼” and it flexes.
