Hey y’all, it’s -18° here this morning in North Idaho. I am looking for suggestions on recommended subzero gloves and balaclavas for riding and or hiking or working outside in general. I’d appreciate any suggestions and I would prefer, that these products be made in the United States versus, say China. Thank you for all your recommendations.

I have 2 of their jackets. They are very warm. A lot warmer than a normal carhartt coat but I would say the same thickness. I don't have their "warmest" jacket either. They are located in Georgia. My dad used to work for a food distribution warehouse and the employees there would wear these in the freezer. They also have gloves and other outerwear. I have about 6 pairs of their gloves too.

You can beat (NoHomo) a good set of CarHartt’s as well. Just layer a little underneath. Always stayed warm with those. Even rode snowmobiles with them a time or 2, no problem.

Those look alot like my snowmobile jacket and bibs just a little differnt. I have some Ski-doo absolute jacket and bibs. It can be single digits outside And u hop on a sled now at 40mph your at -30 or more windshield and u never get cold. Plus there waterproof and serve as a float device also.

Those look nice. I've never been in single digits down here in SC but maybe once or twice. Supposed to get down to 15 Saturday morning. I won't be liking that

It's all about layers in the cold. Start out with a good pair of thermal's and then start building your layers. The coat is your shell, keeps out the water and wind. Like Remmy said, can't go wrong with snowmobile gear. Doing 60+ mph in the open air in below zero temps, snug as a bug in the good stuff. 👍

For work - Carhartt Arctic bibs, coveralls and coat. They were blue outside black inside, two to 3 times the weight and thickness of regular Carhartt's. And about 2x expensive. I wore them regularly at 0 to - 40 below. Thermals with layers under.
Snow machine suit was good too.
Heated grips, seat and heat exchange rails. Go all day.

Only suggestion I have is start looking next spring, it'll be hard to find your size this time of year or you might get lucky? But I doubt it, you may to special order? I have to start looking early fall to find the right size, but we have opposite sizes. Good luck!

Heated coat or sweatshirt works good. I have a Milwaukee heated coat and I usually just wear a tee shirt and sweatshirt under it. I usually end up starting to sweat and turning it off if it’s above zero. Lol.

A heated sweatshirt is awesome under a good wind proof coat is also good. It seems like if you keep your core warm your hands and feet stay warm also.

otherwise ya, layers with good wind breaking. Gloves are tougher. If it’s real cold I wear 2 gloves. One thin mechanics style inside of a big bulky glove. That way I can take off the big bulky one if I need to and still not have exposed skin.

I like a big fur hat with a neck warmer pulled up for my face. And ski goggles, that way you don’t have any exposed skin.

I forgot to mention, you need a good hat. Laugh all you want but not many hats beat a good bomber hat or what I call an Elmer Fudd hat.

When you have a camo Elmer hat and camo crocs…

….let’s just say it’s a special time and the snow outside will be the least of your worries iykwim 😜😜
