New to the forum and owning a SxS for the first time. I've searched and most threads I've read about wheels/tires are for the X/R 2-seaters. Anyone here with the X4 Live Valve running 32's?

All the research I've done say the CVT's need a clutch kit to run RPM's properly on 32's. Anyone experience issues with the DCT's we have, particularly with the X4's? With the X4's being longer and heavier than the X/R, I just wonder if I'm better off with 30's.

I'm in SoCal so 70% of the riding will be desert trails. 20% dunes and 10% mt trails.

Ive been told by several guys that 32s will rub on the 4 seaters without spacers. We put 30s on System3 wheels and they dont appear that theyll cause any issues.

My GM is running 32s on his R but that's a different animal.

I was at my dealer the other day and they rolled out an X4 LV with 32's on it. I asked how they managed it without rubbing and they tech just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and said "I just do what the GM tells me to do even though I told him they would rub". We turned the wheel to full left and bingo, the tire was maybe 1/4" clearance. It will definitely rub going over bumps.

Spacer are probably not going to help, this machine had 4+3 Method wheels on it so they were spaced out pretty good. Only (proper) way to run 32's would be forward set control arms but then the X4 would have a worse turning radius than an R. I think you are stuck with 30's or 31's unless you are OK with rubbing.

Powerwise, 32's should do fine except during serious duning. Dynojet makes a DCT tune that may interest you but as far as I know, it is only out for the 2 seater so far. It changes the shift points and adds launch control (but you already have that so I'm not sure it will work on the X4 with LV). You might want to drop them a line and see if it will work on the X4 with Live Valve.

I'm running 32x10x15 blackwater evolutions with oem wheels on my x4. I haven't had any rubbing. It might be since the tires cross section is more rounded Cdd00d6ca70033d7b0db7fd5cf648895165287acba4376d1e803065696fbbc8c

That is true and Blackwater Evolutions tend to run a little small so you are seeing more clearance on your machine. A true 32 with a more square profile will rub so any blanket statement about tire sizes (like the ones I made above) are really not valid. Let me be more clear...

Most TRUE 32" tires will rub, especially if they have a more square profile. Smaller (not true 32") and/or more rounded 32" tires may not rub.

Just to add, I'm running 32 carnivores and have only had it rub very slightly 2 times after a half a dozen rides. Only at full lock.

Nauti that looks awesome. Just picked up my X4 Live Valve yesterday, and having the factory wheels powdered Black and doing the 30" BFGs. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like!

Are you still not having any rubbing?

Still no rubbing. These tires have been awesome in the mud and snow.

How was the ride quality with 32" Blackwater Evolutions on stock rims? Did the larger tires affect the transmission shift points and braking much? My local shop has some 30"s and 32"s, contemplating which tire size I should go with.

I honestly don't notice much difference between the Blackwater's and the 28" interco snipers I also have. Im only riding 1000-2000' elevation. It definitely hits the speed limiter faster with the 28s, but i still hit it with the 32's. I run the 28s in the tug hill area of upstate ny. It's mostly seasonal roads with some pavement to get between areas. I dont need the ground clearance there, so I picked up the 28s. I use the 32's for areas around my house and NH, where the extra ground clearance is nice. The tires work awesome in mud and snow

If I had to buy again, I'd probably go with 32's again. Coming from a yamaha rhino I had for 13 years, the talon is a huge improvement. Turbo will be going on it this fall after I get my garage built.

Thanks for the response! I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 32" BlackWater Evo's. Riding in Alaska it'll be nice to have that extra ground clearance, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how they perform in the snow. Cheers
