P500 2002 Foreman steering not working

Friend of mine has a 2009 Foreman 500, and he says the electric steering doesnt work, and he also noted 3 flashes on the gauge cluster. I'm not familiar with this machine. Any ideas what he should be checking? thanks for any help.

I don't think a 2002 would have had power steering.
