Has anyone heard when they will release the price of the 2017 1000? Stopped up to my closest dealer and he thought the middle of this month. Has anyone heard the same?want to get a price on the limited edition 1000. He guessed around $20.

I'd bet that 20k price will be close.

Pioneer-Honda Powersports

LE - $21,599  <--------($4,200 No locking front diff, hill start, Fox shocks and cargo nets:rolleyes:)

Deluxe - $17,399

-5 - $16,399

LE (3 seat) - $19,999  <--------($4,600 more, apparently they cost more on the 3 seater )

EPS - $15,399

Non EPS - $14,199

For reference:

2017 Toyota Corolla Compact Car | Your next chapter starts here.

Toyota Corolla XLE - $21,825:confused:

While I am all for innovation, over $4,000 is A LOT of clams for upgraded shocks and cargo nets. Unless you think that automatic applying brakes are worth more than I do. ;)

By the way.

They Yamaha YXZ SS SE, the incredibly sexy black and red model is only $22,399 and it comes with bead locks and a sun top (and some other upgrades). Throw in $999 and you can get the Yamaha factory gear reduction (hint, hint Honda) and you have a trail monster.

So $23,398 ($1,799 more) and you have something that will smoke a 2017 Honda LE on any trail in the US, have a transmission not a belt, paddle shifters AND have a locking front diff but it won't haul 5 people and you can't use it for work but damn you would look good trying to do it. :)

I really think Honda is going to have trouble selling the LE at that price but who knows.

But Yamaha isn't a Honda, lol. Take the 1000-5 deluxe and add fox shocks, skid plate,a arm guards, front bumper and your up to the LE price. I called my dealer to get a real price on it!

Sorry if it's been mentioned somewhere before, but the reason the difference in pricing is higher on the 3 seater is because of the LED headlights. No 3 seater currently comes with them, but the deluxe 5 and the LE models will. So that's the $4200 vs $4600 from a 3 and 5 to their respective LE model.

The issue with the YZX is the powertrain. Our sales rep said Yamaha has an awesome chassis but no powertrain to match the capability of it. The engine in those units has no power down low, it's a very high rpm unit. Which caused clutch issues when first dropped, because you either slip the hell outta it or rev it to the moon and drop it to get it moving. They already stole Hondas paddle shift idea anyways, so they new the shifting thing was a bad idea to begin with.

IMO that's apples to oranges, if Honda had a high strung two seater the comparison would be fair. I will agree it's a lot of money, in fact more than I'm willing to pay. Right now I'm grinning like a mule eatin' saw briars knowing what I paid for my 16 EPS 3 seater after seeing the 17 prices.

They recently fixed that, from what I understand. They have a factory offered lower geared transmission that will give you a 70% reduction in first gear and a 30% reduction in your other gears. (Honda should do this too!)

With the autoclutching SS model and paddle shifters you don't have to worry about slipping the clutches and burning them up like the pure manual one.

I can only go off of Dirttrax videos though of the machine in mud and doing rock crawling. I don't have any personal experience with them other than drooling over the looks and sexy color scheme at Abernathy's.

Still, if I were in the market for a SXS and it was the choice between this and the Pioneer LE for similar money, I would go with the Yamaha unless I needed a more utility unit and for that I wouldn't pick the LE Honda.

I am not direct comparing them on anything but price.

For that much money, the Pioneer had better be competitive with the Yamaha and the Maverick and the Rzr and it can't.

Or it better have a cab system like the Ranger Northstar or the Defender, which it doesn't.

Of course, for that kind of money, I would get something else entirely, like a new car. :)

I am also tickled at what I got mine for with a winch, hard top, front and rear A-arm guards, extended warranty and a bed liner with sales tax for less than the MSRP of the LE 3 seat model.:D

I need a machine that will do utility work and go down the trail without jarring your guts out. That's why I'm looking at the LE the 1000-5 deluxe isn't out of the question either.

I'll agree the price is outrageous, but even for the money it's not fair to compare the Pioneer to the Yamaha, RZR or the Can-Am Defender. It's like comparing a new 5.0 Mustang or Z-28 to a SUV, similar prices but different applications and target markets. Just my opinion, that and $1.50 will buy you a cup of coffee in most places. :D

The only issue with something like replacing the Trans on the Honda would be having to remove the engine and split the cases to access it. On the Yamaha it's a separate sealed unit not tied to the engine. That would be a pretty simple swap then, but I've heard the problem still lies in the engine being a high rpm unit. It's nothing but a snowmobile engine without a belt drive, those things are made to be up in the revs anyways due to the belt drive.

If I were to buy a new 1000, I'd just put the Fox shocks on a 16 and go on. The only thing that the LE is going to have that I can't get on the rest of the lineup is the brake assist features. Which imo is going to be a headache for me and the rest of our service department. No one buys the Honda skid plates/a arm guards, or at least we haven't sold any, the bumper isn't special really and the storage is available separately

Any idea what the 4 fox shocks would cost? Looking on the web I came up about 3 grand for 4

Honestly.. that's what I'm going to do. I think you'll have a better machine with the 16 and adding better chosen accessories. I was seeing prices around 12-1400 a set.. so 24-2800 for four.. but I'm thinking the LE will only have front fox shocks.
