I think they changed the expiration date this year. They are good for a year from day of purchase instead of expiring the last day of February. I could be wrong but that was the TWRA plan.
You are correct, I just bought mine and it expires 3/9/23 not 2/28.

Sorry to bother you all, but I have a few questions. Does my passenger need this permit or just me? Is there any Veteran program to cut the cost of the permit? We are coming from NY so we would be non-resident. My buddy and I are both retired Air Force. Thanks, and see you all in June.

Only one permit per machine required. The hunting license route is cheaper than the high impact permit. Someone will come along with the details. The only reason to buy the high impact permit is if you plan to make several trips per year. This is how I do it but we make as many trips to tenn as we can squeeze in every year.

I don't know of a Veteran discount, but I believe Active Duty does not need permit.

I thought you could still make as many trips as you wanted with the non-res hunting permit year pass? I think it's a type 71+93.

It does but if you bought it last year, it expired the last day of February 2022. From this point on, the yearly permits are good for a year from the day of purchase.

So being completely new to this and never been to the takeover what should I plan for as far as riding. I will have a 700. I see there are groups for the 500/520 and some for the bigger machines. Would like to ride in some kinda group with not knowing anything about the area and such

Honestly you can tag along with pretty much anyone you run across. Great group of people. Riding conditions always change depending on what the current weather conditions are for those days. No matter what trail/group you end up with, rule #1......no one gets left behind 👍

I saw some where it is recommended to have 8ply tires. I am running bighorn 2s . I think they are 6ply is this kind of iffy?
I've been to 2 takeovers and 2 MOMs with 6 ply and never a flat. Know watch me bust every tire on it 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
