So, We all know the Pioneer 1000 has a fairly tall reverse gear.
In fact, 1st gear low is lower then reverse.

Pioneer 1000
1st gear - 2.764
Reverse - 2.222

Today. I received confirmation that the reverse on the Honda Talon has been "improved". 1st gear on the Talon is still lower then reverse, but not by much.

Talon 1000
1st gear - 2.764
Reverse - 2.640

Seeing that the sub-transmission controls reverse. I'd is willing to beat a gear change would be all that's needed to lower the reverse in a Pioneer 1000. Parts Fish have yet to be posted but as soon as they do we can confirm. A limitation may be a case update. We will just have to wait and see.

Below are the gear ratios for both units with the only listed differences.

Primary - 1.883
Front diff - 3.384
Rear diff - 3.375 / 3.307 Talon
1st - 2.764
2nd - 2.047
3rd - 1.583
4th - 1.230
5th - 0.968
6th - 0.800
Low - 2.666
High - 1.880
Reverse - 2.222 / 2.640 Talon

So... Whos needs a lower reverse? Does anyone want to take this on for verification?

If I burn another clutch in reverse and the parts become available I might look into that.

Looking at the numbers makes you wonder about putting same size tires all the way around?

With my IGR, I'm 17% lower in reverse than the lower gear set.
This IGR is interesting. What's your top speed with the gear reduction? I plow snow with my 1000 & really wish reverse was much lower, but don't want to give up a bunch of top speed. If I could top out around 55mph with the IGR I would seriously consider it.

With larger tires you don’t loose much top speed. Maybe one day I can get a top speed with my OEM tires. With 32’s it will run 55

I thought it’s weird the gears so far apart

Maybe the tires are a different size like the pioneer. The stock tires are a little less than half inch shorter in the front which we all know that tires vary greatly from the label on the sidewall.

I highly doubt that was the plan though. That’s probably the just ratio of the gears they sourced or happened to be the closest match.
