I want to do this mod. But, need confirmation it is do-able and more than one person says it can be done. Is there anyone out there with mileage on their rig after doing this mod? Please tell the rest of us.

@riverratcadillac just did this. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to put many miles on it yet. The 2 gears are all that's needed inside. He will hopefully weigh in.

I see an ad in eBay for the mod kit to lower reverse for the P1000. It is $430. Based on a few doing this mod, is this reasonable or should I just go to Honda?

Good luck finding Honda oem parts. I've been waiting on one of the two talon gears required since June 5.....

Well, the final talon gear arrived this week and I put it in the sub transmission and got everything back together. Its been a long wait, but I can tell the difference in reverse compared to what it was. Not drastic but a noticeable difference.

Any updates on this? My machine is in the shop torn apart now. The dealer is ordering the talon reverse gears. Any reason not to do this ???

I did it recently guys. I've put 1000 miles on it since and it works great.

The parts are exact fit, just lower gearing.

Look at my thread Sub Transmission Service to read about my experience

I have a parts list here as well. I'd skip the ebay guy selling "kits." He's just selling you a few parts at huge markup, and he advertises them when he has none in stock.
