I am trying to see if there are other options and how often I need to change my air filter. This is after about 150 miles in dusty and wet conditions. Still seems too dirty too soon. My dealer said that we would have to change it about every 100+ miles or so. Additionally I had about 2 inches of dust / dirt in the bin after taking the filter off.

Any suggestions?

This x 10. Same issue on the Talon. Luckily, I got my Uni installed before the first mile. There are ways to do something similar to the Pioneer.

ETA: I copied HondaBob's idea and used the part numbers provided by him (photos in the next post). The only difference is that I didn't run mine up to the roof.

Honda offers the particle separator. I made several snorkel's with a pre filter for my friends. My factory air filter will be ok for 30,000 miles. My prefilter is ok for over 5,000 miles. The hardest part is getting the 3 inch hole centered and trimming the factory intake to 3 inches. My air filter at 10,000 miles and my pre filter also at 10,000 miles but it should be cleaned or replaced at somewhere over 5,000 miles.

PC filter skin and big hose clamp and put filter oil on PC filter skin. Clean PC skin every 150 miles and then you will only need to change the Honda filter every 2500 miles.

The snorkel with a filter on top is the cheapest way to go. There are also pre-filters like KWT and S&B. I went with the KWT. From Honda Bobs excellent photos, you remove the black resonator (crazy looking black tube with roundish chambers).

The KWT can be mounted anywhere, so I wanted it out of my way not blocking my rear view. Great if you have rear a rear window. I mounted it backwards behind the passenger seat. It doesn't require electricity and it makes no noise. Dust is separated from the air by cyclonic action. The dust settles into a dirt collection chamber and the cleaned air goes to your air filter and plenum.

I have been testing a pre-production model X2 and just got the production model. Here is my review at 1400 miles, check out the video. If you want more info just search this forum typing in KWT, to see what other members said.

@hondabob Where did you get the elbow at the roof line? Is it 3" or close? If I remember correctly, the Teryx tube is 2-7/8".

I like the concept, but would prefer to terminate mine behind the rear passenger headrest as CID has done. What material and dimension is the hose/tubing that runs from the OEM air box and up thru the back cowling? What is the best access point to connect it to the OEM box and what fasteners to use? Thank you

The tube is a $15 Teryx belt drive intake tube. The filter will fit 3, 3.5, or 4 inch tubes. If you go up under the roof I use this NAPA 3 inch hose part number 8907. I cut it for a short connecting tube and the plastic tube needs to be cut too.

Hmmm, the bend I quoted looks much sharper than the bends of the Teryx tube, closer to 60* or 70*. Lens compression - LOL. Thanks for the part # photos.
