We i guess we’re in the same boat. I know nothing about RC either but watching this thread got me interested. I now have a Gatekeeper and a Traxxas Hoss.

Adam, can you tell me what light bar will fit the Gatekeeper?

Yea, I've got five now and didn't get interested until last year, these builders kit are addictive! Stick with the RTR's. This is going to get stupid fast.Which one do you like the best?

They are very different. Like the rock crawler when by myself but the traxxas when my grandson brings the truck I bought him over.

All I have bought are rtr’s. Don’t have the time or patience for the kits.

My RTR's are great in stock form, I got into trouble when I started up grading tires and wheels, needed new servo and arm, different spur gear, burned up a couple motors and it goes on from there. I had no intension of buying a builders kit at this time, went to My Hobby shop going to buy another RTR and got to looking really close at the components and thought what the heck, I'll just build one, with what I would end up with with a RTR after modifications. I have learned a lot building my first. As far as time, I watch very little TV and get satisfaction out of working with my hands. This is a lot of fun regardless of how you get there!

Well, @Smitty335 sent me some beer money to paint his damned safari wagon... I'll let him share the finished product, but I just finished slinging paint and it came out pretty damn cool!! Few teasers....

What do you think about the Vanquish VS4-10 Builders kit? Need servo/arm, motor, ESC, battery and radio to complete. High dollar!
Didn't see you ask about these. Those kits are top notch. I've never heard anything bad about any of the Vanquish products other than price, but you get what you pay for. I have their steering knuckles and axles on both my SCX10's
