That was pretty great, sounded like you needed a little more power to keep your momentum! I was cheering for ya but it didn’t do any good and to top it off, my itch to buy a 700 or 1000 just flared up again. Sobriety is such a long road, I hadn’t thought about upgrading since....ohhh...aaahhaa..yep it was yesterday lol.
I hear that upgrade voice myself. But this 500 is such a solid, dependable machine. I wish I could have both.

I went with 26x9-12 Blackwater Evolution on 5+2 aluminum wheels on all 4 corners and I thought that combination worked very well at takeover. Only problem I had was I got high centered twice, and overheated a few times with mud clogged radiator.

27x15, 5-2, no spacers. If I did it again, would go same width on all four, but guessing they will last years.

I won’t ditch my P5, I’ll hand it down to my son in a few years. Great machine!!

That’s a pretty good size tire, how much clearance do you have?

Sounds like you put her to the test. I wish the radiator was more protected, it’s kinda just sitting there waving and saying look at me! I almost stabbed a hole in mine last weekend while blazing trails at the farm. I guess that’s what they make brush guards for.;)

In my case it was a little too protected,I could clean back side of radiator pretty well but front side was very tough with small grill openings, winch and light bar. I think I’m going to carry a 1 to 2 gallon garden sprayer from now on to get to the front side.

I’ve never had mine try to overheat yet but I’m sure my day is coming. I’ll have to start planning for the takeover now so I don’t miss the next one. :D

The biggest reason I want to upgrade is for an actual bed with some room for tools and cargo. Other than that I love my p5. I need to get that dump bed they sell the p5 with in New Zealand, I haven’t seen very good pics of it yet.

Thanks to all for the comments and info while I was preoccupied with trying to decide on tires and wheels. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered four 26x9-12 Sedona mud rebel rt’s mounted on black ITP steel wheels. I looked at multiple combos but found out I’m not a flashy wheel kind of guy, so I went with simple black on black. Rocky Mountain atv says they will be here Thursday, it’s gonna be a long three days!!!!! Lol.

Good choice! Looking forward to seeing your pics. At least @trigger and I are also black on black wheel kind of guys. Though I have a little bit of chrome because I didn't know they made them in all black.

The agony of trying to decide was something else, too many tires to choose from. It finally came down to the sedona, ITP mud lite 2 and the tusk trilobite. I think the Sedonas will be pretty good from the looks of them. Give me a few days and there will be pics for sure!

Yes I do, maybe I should practice my “wax on....wax off” routine while I wait. I’ll make the pioneer shine!:)

Whether you are a AA fuel dragster or an over the road trucker you need to go aluminum. Because, the reason manufacturers put on two ply tires is, unsprung weight cost horse power and fuel economy. With heavy tires we must always go with aluminum wheels.

I couldn’t find any black aluminum that I really liked so I went with steel ITP12x7’s. I’m sure I’ll notice it a little but at the end of the day it’s a four wheeler with a bench seat. (No riding nut to butt in this rig):)

Update: As of yesterday the center caps still haven’t come in, I should be posting pics of new tires but I’m still waiting for them to show up. Maybe next week I’ll have some pics for you guys. The good news is I’ll be able to read the service manual I ordered the same day, it will be here today. So until then......

Update #2: Just when I settled into the idea of waiting 7 days total, I’ve been informed that my center caps are back ordered until the 16th. I called Rocky Mountain Atv and they said they would ship the tires and wheels and ship the center caps when they come in.:) I went ahead and ordered black lug nuts for the wheels while I was on the phone with them, now after checking over the specs, they are sending 12mmx1.25......I’m pretty sure the pioneer needs 12x1.50. This has been a comedy of errors lol. The Honda Gods are trying to speak but I guess I’m not understanding what they are saying lol.
