Hey all, I wanted to say thanks for all of the help and info while I was deciding on what to buy. I’ve been running the tires pretty well every day and they are much better than the stockers that came with the p5. Here are a few things I’ve noticed with the new setup:

1. The 26’s soak up more terrain and smooth the ride out a little.

2. Better traction (as if that needed mentioned haha)

3. The 5+2 wheels and new tires make the machine pretty stable, It doesn’t seem any more tippy than when it was stock.

4. My stock height was 9” and I’m now 10 3/4” at the skid plate.

5. Totally worth it.

Update:
I noticed that my top speed has dropped with the 26” tires. With stock tires it would top out at 44 mph, now it’s 39-40mph. Not sure what that’s about.

I never checked top end with the stockers, but top end with the 27 Mud Lites is 39.

I’m guessing the spedo is off since upsizing. Those stockers don’t do anything for the performance or curb appeal. Looks way better now.

You will gain 1/2" per side with 5+2 wheels from stock wheels.

You will gain 1 1/2" per side with 4+3 wheels from stock wheels.

Factory fronts 4.5+1.5

Factory rears 6+1.5
@Chooglin So really going from the stock wheels to 5+2's really doesn't make that much difference? I thought I had seen somewhere where someone stated that 5+2s were the equivalent to spacers?

If you go with 5+2 wheels you only gain 1/2" per side from stock!

.....I may just stick with stock wheels when i go up to 26 inch tires then.......I guess could always add spacers later....
You need spacers, they made a big difference on my 700, I wish I would have put them on my 500 when I had it.

Hey all,

I’ve been scouring the web and this site for a clear answer and I’m not coming to a definitive conclusion so... here we go.
It’s time to ditch these stock four ply tires and get something better, I’m pretty sure I’m going to get the tusk trilobite 8 ply for the p5. My problem now is what to do for the stance and stability. I looked at spacers but not sure about that option, looked at a few wheels that are 12x7 4+3 and 5+2. So here are my questions.

1. How many of you are running 26’s on stock rims without spacers, does the p5 handle ok like this?

2. How many of you are running 12x7 5+2 vs 4+3?

3. In your opinion, what is the perfect set up?

Thanks for any help.

I’m running 26” wheels with no spacers yet, if I do add spacers it’ll only be because those that have them say the ride is a bit softer, I don’t think my P5 feels anymore or less tippy than with the stock tires, the trails by me are mostly sand, I’d say it plows and drifts in the sand more than it did with the stock tires but hardly and I’m pleased with them and the handling also, I went with a moose 6ply 26” tire I thought the 8ply on the sandy trails I ride wasn’t needed, I’ve never had a problem with the 4ply that were on the P5 or my Rancher so...
I was looking for a softer ride and it is much better with the 26” tires running 7psi
Also curious if the 8 ply have a stiffer sidewall kinda like a car with run flats?

8 ply radial construction will have a heavier sidewall most generally. My 500 felt less tippy after putting on wheels and tires.

This illustration is confusing to me and I understand wheel offsets. Say you have a 8 inch wheel, with a 4 + 4 wheel offset, that means the lug bolt pattern is in the middle of the wheel. the first # is the # on the back side of the hub, the second # is the # on the front side of the hub. Some S X S have different width on hub width from front verses rear, the width difference on a P1 is 2 inches, the rear being 2 inches narrower than the front, so I run 6+1 on the front and 5+2 on the rear and have the same width front and rear, no spacers. Just like the stock rims except for wider rims up front. So you can get a wider stance by ordering the right wheels, front and back will be different by an inch, 6+1 front and 5+2 back will get you the same width front and rear on most S x S's. Boy bet that was clear as mud! HA!
