So, I’m wanting to buy or make or steal a 14’ double decker trailer and could use input from anyone that may have knowledge of these. I’m very limited on weight. Cargo is 4K and I need not be over 6K total....🤔 Probably has to be an aluminum base????

something like this???? Minus the front area for a third vehicle.

What's the benefit of going up instead of longer? Just curious

With only 6k of towing capacity it’s going to be tough...especially when a plain jane aluminum car trailer is going to run 2500 lbs minimum on its own. Add in a ~1900 lb UTV that leaves 1600 lbs for the other vehicle/items.

What???? A Big Tex 14’ dove tail car hauler in steel is just 1620# what’s the point of an aluminum trailer if they’re not lighter than steel trailers.....🤔

Maybe a car dolly with a deck is a better option?

I just sold my car dolly, a Prius does not like to be towed with any wheels on the ground, it jacks with the computers. After I unload it all sorts of warning lights are on, breaking and steering is difficult and messages to get to the dealer are flashing......😂

My 18’+2 aluminum is every bit of 2000 naked. But it’s a higher gvwr as well at 7500 lbs. Toss in the chain box, jack, ramps, spare and winch plus battery and your at 2500 before anything is on it.

That’s crazy light for a steel trailer. The cross members must be a mile apart and the whole trailer made out of 14 gauge angle.

Lol, I don’t know, but Big Tex makes damn good trailers. I own four of them. Anyway, I only need 14’ hauling a 2300# Prius and an 1800# Talon....😉

No 14 gauge angle, good specs...

My 6x12 single axle aluminum is 776lbs With a 3500lb axle, can’t see a second axle adding much weight. A steal 6x12 single axle trailer is usually around 1000lbs.

I have a custom hybrid utility/dump trailer from D&K built like a tank that is a 6x14 with tandem 5000lb axles and dual lift cylinders rated for 10k in lift that probably weighs around 3000lbs, a 2500lb aluminum trailer must be built out of 1/2” aluminum.

I bet you could get a steel one that would fit your weight limit.

I‘m shopping for a 20ft Featherlite currently. Stock is pretty tight in my area.
