I know there may be different factors or conditions for recommending miles between oil changes. Using the oil branded by Honda how often between miles and average conditions would you be changing oil?

I would like to switch to synthetic but am not sure if it's recommended while the machine is still breaking in. Anyone know what process to follow when breaking in the machine and switching oils?

I changed at 100. About 3500 on it now and doesn't use any oil and the oil looks clean when its time to change. Honda synthetic.

I do the first oil change at around 140 miles and try to get at least 6 to 8 hours on it. I use Mobile one 10w40 synthetic motorcycle oil. Any major brand synthetic motorcycle oil may have better protection if your engine overheats. The regular Honda GN4 10W-30 will protect the engine. The important part is to change it on time and occasionally I do go 100 miles over. Super clean air and clean oil will help these engines go to over 50,000 miles. The aftermarket prefilter in clean air helps the engine life. Since the 6-speed gearbox uses the engine oil it is important to use a motorcycle oil that has the additives for the transmission. The Talon engine has the under-piston oil jets and a larger cooling system for the optional Turbo. Without the turbo the engine life is increased.

Kinda oil only thread here. We use the Honda GN-4 10w-30 for the engine and Mobil 1 75w-140 for the front and rear gear boxes. Engine is running very clean at around 700-800 mi (I'll have to go check in barn). The gear boxes are running very smooth and fairly quiet, better than the OEM fluid by a long shot!
