I've always towed SxS in an open trailer. Looking at going to an enclosed trailer but really don't want to go with a 8.5 foot wide version. How difficult will it be to get in and out of a Talon X inside a 7 foot wide trailer?

Thanks!

Although I'm not looking at an enclosed trailer, I have a similar problem - there's 84" between the corner of my garage and the cement retaining wall - the trailer HAS TO FIT in that spot or it will be parked in my way all year. I found an 80" wide Echo Elite EE-14-14. The 'problem' is that I'll have to drive over the fenders to load, that will entail building ramps over the fenders so I'm not crushing them. Since the bed surface is also 63" wide, the tires will overhang the edges 'a bit' and I may also have to add ears for the tires so they don't slip into the gap between the bed and the side rails.

The Elite is 63" between fenders and the Talon X is spec'd at 64" IIRC. It's physics, how wide is the 7' trailer between fenders and are the fenders stout enough for the weight of the Talon?

Note that I don't own either yet, but getting very close - I'm hoping for a good deal on a leftover 2019 R which is 68.4" wide IIRC.

Also note: getting yourself in and out of a 7' wide trailer will require gymnastic skills on your part. :p

My stock Talon R was wide enough to rub the cables that let the door up and down on a 7' wide trailer. It would fit but I had someone hold the cables out of the way when I loaded it.

What your aversion to 8.5 wide?

Nothing more than rear visibility and maybe a bit more wind resistance. It's really not a deal breaker, but a personal preference.

Maybe I wasn't very clear. I know I can get the talon inside a 7 ft. trailer, my question is can I get myself out of the Talon while it's inside the trailer?

I have 7 ft wide cargo craft enclosed trailer getting out of my 1000-5 is a little hard if
I don't get over to the passenger side a little more.
Don't know if on the Talon if the seats set inside the tires a little
more to have more room to get out.

So you’re in the same boat I was... what truck will you be pulling it with?

I really didn’t want a big trailer but I really had my heart set on an all aluminum, including the floor. A dear dear dear friend found a deal on an 8.5x24 intech and I couldn’t be happier. I was very leery over how my 1/2 ton was going to handle it. But now that I’ve put some miles on it. I can’t imagine having gone smaller. There’s plenty of room in the trailer and side visibility isn’t an issue... it pulls great! I did order my truck with the max tow and added tow mirrors though. But they may plenty of aftermarket add on tow mirrors.

If the trailer dealer will let you test fit your Talon to see
what fits you the best go that route.
Wish I did that would have probable went
with a wider one to make it easier.

I had to crawl out of the side window of the talon. I am 5'11'' and 175lb

I’ve got a Talon R and a 7x16x7 enclosed trailer that I use to camp out of since it’s insulated with A/C and electric service. I bought it from a guy going through a divorce and got a great deal on it, but in all honesty it’s not wide enough. I’ve got to crawl out of the door Dukes of Hazzard style and climb on the front tire to get out of the trailer.

The next enclosed trailer I get will be 8.5 wide no exceptions.

I have a 7x16 Haulmark Transport. Talon fits fine. Mine has extra height. 84" interior. 80" interior width. There is room to open the door enough to step out onto the tire and off the front. Really no big deal and I'm an old, fat guy. I put a piece of 1/4" foam on the wall to protect the door. Obviously it would be easier with a wider trailer but this works.

Now that's more what I was hoping to hear.
