I had every intention of buying a Tundra, until I drove a SLT Sierra. Man is my truck comfortable to drive. I get close to 20 at 80 on the interstate and about 15-16 pulling the Pioneer behind it

Our Ford dealer Tech told me that the 5.0L in our works trucks is where it’s at. This was after I asked him what engine would he buy if he were buying a new F150. I was floored! I asked about the ecoboosts and he said they were junk and he wouldn’t have one if it were given to him. He said they are notorious for issues and that he had replaced timing chains as early as 50K miles.

My wife’s has 150,000 trouble free miles with 1/3 of them towing.

5.0 doesn’t have power of 3.5 ...sadly, I wish they would do a 5.0 or in my wet dreams a 7.3Godzilla EB. I also have a bored & stroked 460 in an F-100, and the EB will never sound the same but I can tow 12,700lb or get 23MPG on 35’s to and from the beach loaded with beach crap and humans.

3rd EcoBoost here and other than changing the oil haven’t had any issues out of the other two in 250k combined. The oldest one which we still have was tuned from day 1.

The 1st gen was bad on cam phasers, because of the stupid variable pressure oil pump.
My new EB has had the auto start/stop disabled since I got it home on day 1, the oil pressure to the top of the motor where the cam phasers are doesn’t drop to 0 every traffic light or stop sign and then have a semi-dry start. Along with using the correct oil, I also use the remote start as a turbo timer so the oil doesn’t get coked in the turbos.

That’s good to know, I’m just the messenger lol. I was very surprised when he told me that.

I bought a 3.5 EB 2018. I'm very happy with it. Pulls whatever I hook up to, gets decent mpg if I'm nice to it and more room in the cab than any other truck.

Dodge would need at least 10 years of proven reliability before I would even touch one of their products. Personally I have a 2014 F250 6.7L diesel with emissions deleted.
I like the Super Duty trucks and I had one before I went back to a half ton Ram 1500. It’s been a good truck and if I were buying a 2500 I’d have to give the Ram a hard look.

I’m pretty sure almost every truck will fall apart before these new Diesel engines give you much issue. Now that Ford finally makes a decent one again anyway. Now if you could give me a new Cummins with an Allison transmission, that would be awesome.

As far as towing I miss the Ram Diesel. When towing it never downshifted going up a hill. We now have a 2016 HEMI Ram King Cab with an 8speed,3.92 gear and towing package. It only sees 60 mph on the way up to 75. Rides and tows like a dream, gooseneck horse trailer or tag trailer for zero turn or Pioneer. 37,000 miles so far and 1 rear cargo light bulb replaced. The reason we bought gas is it was smaller than the diesel dually and a lot easier to park.

I’m pulling a 24’ enclosed, sometimes with 2 machines, with my 19 3.5 eb max tow and it’s doing the job well. Fuel milage will vary when pulling but it pulls it so well. I’m not keeping them past 100k so I can’t speak on longevity

Tell us more about the delete. Why? Benefits?

The cliff notes version: Basically a bunch of parts of exhaust and engine system that eventually clog up with soot over time, so you remove them and get better air flow. Exhaust gas recirc, and particulate filter are the most common. More air flow = more power.

I’m sure someone has figured out how, but that is not one I have heard of being done.

Deleting useless emissions gets rid of DEF fluid requirements, DPF, and EGR. Less problems down the road and actually better for the environment

And better fuel mileage.
