Our Ford dealer Tech told me that the 5.0L in our works trucks is where it’s at. This was after I asked him what engine would he buy if he were buying a new F150. I was floored! I asked about the ecoboosts and he said they were junk and he wouldn’t have one if it were given to him. He said they are notorious for issues and that he had replaced timing chains as early as 50K miles.

That’s good to know, I’m just the messenger lol. I was very surprised when he told me that.5.0 doesn’t have power of 3.5 ...sadly, I wish they would do a 5.0 or in my wet dreams a 7.3Godzilla EB. I also have a bored & stroked 460 in an F-100, and the EB will never sound the same but I can tow 12,700lb or get 23MPG on 35’s to and from the beach loaded with beach crap and humans.
3rd EcoBoost here and other than changing the oil haven’t had any issues out of the other two in 250k combined. The oldest one which we still have was tuned from day 1.
The 1st gen was bad on cam phasers, because of the stupid variable pressure oil pump.
My new EB has had the auto start/stop disabled since I got it home on day 1, the oil pressure to the top of the motor where the cam phasers are doesn’t drop to 0 every traffic light or stop sign and then have a semi-dry start. Along with using the correct oil, I also use the remote start as a turbo timer so the oil doesn’t get coked in the turbos.
I like the Super Duty trucks and I had one before I went back to a half ton Ram 1500. It’s been a good truck and if I were buying a 2500 I’d have to give the Ram a hard look.Dodge would need at least 10 years of proven reliability before I would even touch one of their products. Personally I have a 2014 F250 6.7L diesel with emissions deleted.

The cliff notes version: Basically a bunch of parts of exhaust and engine system that eventually clog up with soot over time, so you remove them and get better air flow. Exhaust gas recirc, and particulate filter are the most common. More air flow = more power.Tell us more about the delete. Why? Benefits?

I’m sure someone has figured out how, but that is not one I have heard of being done.Get rid of the def system as well?
