Fuel capacity is 7.9 gals so you'd have 1.9 gals left when yours shows empty. But yeah...the fuel gauge on these units tend to be very forgiving on accidentally running out of fuel. If you actually run out, you've probably been riding on "E" for hours!First fill up.
Fuel guage was at the bottom, and blinking (okay... maybe it was only blinking when on a slope) regardless, it was on the last bar.

What do you think about the capability of your ride? I've run out of gas twice in my life, not counting push mowers, it's a b**ch, something that is so preventable! With two bars showing I can almost put 5 gallons in. Enjoy your ride!
Miles per tankful on trails is almost impossible to quantify. Hours per tankful is what I go by and slow trail riding burns in the ballpark of .75 gallons per hour (depending on the trail). So... 7 gallons should fuel your rig for over 9 hours of trail riding plus a little allowance for margin of error. (Hours per tankful fall drastically if used at high speeds).
Doing yard work for a week seems to burn more gas than a day of trail riding
Yea, I found that to be true with my Yamaha as well.
My wife was so mad at me when I pulled up in the drive way with Rooster, then we started using it for yard work, now when I leave for work, the last thing she asks me is, where are the keys for Rooster. HA!
Oh, I can relate to that.. even when we had the Yamaha, it went from living in my shop, to taking a spot in the garage.. She gets off work far earlier than I do, she'll take the Shepherd and the Pit & go change water or just ride around the pasture..
