First fill up.

Fuel guage was at the bottom, and blinking (okay... maybe it was only blinking when on a slope) regardless, it was on the last bar.

6 gallons filled it.

So I have 2.7 gal when it shows empty? :)

Fuel capacity is 7.9 gals so you'd have 1.9 gals left when yours shows empty. But yeah...the fuel gauge on these units tend to be very forgiving on accidentally running out of fuel. If you actually run out, you've probably been riding on "E" for hours!

Ah.. okay. 7.9 gallons. For some reason I had 8.9 in my head. That does make more sense.

How many trail miles does the average rider get out of a tankful?

Never had mine blink, but hate ridding with one bar showing. Thanks for the info.

First ride on dirt with her. 45 miles. One bar over 1/2 full still in tank. We should of took the long loop! Lol.

Miles per tankful on trails is almost impossible to quantify. Hours per tankful is what I go by and slow trail riding burns in the ballpark of .75 gallons per hour (depending on the trail). So... 7 gallons should fuel your rig for over 9 hours of trail riding plus a little allowance for margin of error. (Hours per tankful fall drastically if used at high speeds).

Doing yard work for a week seems to burn more gas than a day of trail riding

Yea, I found that to be true with my Yamaha as well.

I never checked to make sure the dealer completely filled the tank, but my odo said 55 miles when it took 6 gallons. All of that use has been on my 9 acres here.. changing water, running up to get the mail/paper etc.. plenty of sitting at idle too. I'm guessing it would do 100+ trail miles on a tank.
There is a comparison vid out there with the X4, and the Teryx.. they said the Pioneer burned the least amount of fuel.

My wife was so mad at me when I pulled up in the drive way with Rooster, then we started using it for yard work, now when I leave for work, the last thing she asks me is, where are the keys for Rooster. HA!

Oh, I can relate to that.. even when we had the Yamaha, it went from living in my shop, to taking a spot in the garage.. She gets off work far earlier than I do, she'll take the Shepherd and the Pit & go change water or just ride around the pasture..

I've had mine since the end of July. ~3000 miles. 201 hours. The worst mileage I've seen is 21mpg with an average speed around 13. That was from a 5 day 312 mile ride in the mountains of Arkansas but I don't remember which day. 46, 67, 81, 48, & 70 mile days logged on Maprika. It was probably the 48 mile day. I was riding with a RZR 1000-4 turbo and a 900 Ranger who were burning 4 to 7 gallons a day. Double, or more, the fuel consumption as my P1000-5. The Ranger owner was proud of 46 mile 4 gallon refuel. He was heartbroken when I filled up with 4.2 on the third day at 113 miles which is the best MPG I've ever calculated. I usually see 24mpg around the house on gravel/sand. I know it would get better if I didn't have it loaded down constantly, tried for max mpg and stayed on paved roads. Back when it was REALLY new, and all I wanted to do was ride, my son and I road over 200 miles in one day, on one tank, in 8 hours (plus 2 hours of fishing). Wish I would have taken an odometer picture before and after to know exactly what MPG it got. The factory tank will definitely hold more than 7.9 gallons BTW. I also have a 2 gallon fuel can under the driver seat that I've never needed.

I get down to 2 bars and I can't get a whole 5 gallon jug in it to fill it back up.
