Using the Pioneer to spray this weekend and it died on me. Turned key off and restarted, put into gear and when give it some gas and it dies. Let it cool down and it will fire up and drive like nothing is wrong with it until it gets to operating temperature again. Engine coolant is at 2 bars when this happens and the check engine light flashes one long flash and two short when it dies.

Can anyone tell me what the diagnostic code 12 means? Pioneer 1000, 2018 model with 700 miles if it matters.

12-1 - Front fuel injector circuit malfunction

The 1000's were bad about the injector wire crimp going bad. There is a replacement plug for sale here in the forum.

Change both injector plugs while there to save time. Takes a while to get to it and only 5 mins to change second one. Mine did same thing but it’s a 16 model. Thought they fixed it before 18

Thanks all. Paid for extended warranty so will likely take it in and let them repair it. The video helps a lot and looks really simple to do if I end up doing it myself.

I understand the warranty so let them fix it part but their fix is to replace the entire wiring harness which will without a doubt take a long time. I’ve heard 4-6wks actually and no way I’d let them keep it that long when I could replace the plugs in one afternoon. I’d rather have my machine home but understand where you’re coming from

Agreed. The entire harness is changed, requiring extensive disassembly of the machine. If your shop puts a novice tech on it, you may wind up with a box full of "extra parts" when you get your machine back.

Here is my thread on the issue if you want to mess with it yourself.
P1000 - PGM-FI DTC 12/13 (Fuel Injector)
Do a little math, it may be better to fix it yourself.
By the time you call and make an appointment, trailer it to the dealer, unload and do paperwork, and pray the issue happens while in their lot. Wait ungodly amount of time for repair. Go trailer it home.

Suddenly $40 in parts and an hour of time doesn't look so bad.

Well ya'll twisted my arm, think I'll order the repair kit. It needs to have a recall done on the gas pedal, bit it can wait until it sticks wide open. Thanks for the link Neohio, I'll do that procedure to confirm this weekend.

My luck, I always get the novice tech...

New kit installed this weekend and sure enough, front injector wires were broken. Thanks again for the help and suggestions to repair myself.

I can't believe it happened again on an 18! I thought this would have been corrected by now.
@JNo323
Glad you took the time to do it yourself. It sure is satisfying fixing a problem for cheap instead of wasting time with the dealer.

It's ridiculous they haven't fixed this flaw yet.
