I read this earlier today. Spent part of the evening spreading the word. I know several in Johnson and Pope Counties who have been wanting this but have been waiting for someone to take the lead. There are a lot of good, beautiful trails in Johnson County that have been closed because of storm damage because the forestry doesn't have the funds or manpower to reopen them.

Charging $3.00 per day on a voluntary basis seems stupid,, they could charge $10-$20.00 per day as beautiful as the forest is! There’s not very many places in the USA that you can ride all day and never see the same trail twice!!! (Plus you can ride on the roads legally)

And then, they charge like $10.00 a night for Rv sites?? I think Arkansas has a little gold mine,, The just need to market it!!

The state has started to see the potential for tourism. This guy in Clarksville and Robert Blake with the Buckhorn trails are doing great. We need to start talking to city and county officials about the tourism potential. They start talking to state officials about more funding for our trails.

Any truth to being a $250 fine for having beer in a cooler in the national forest?

It’s true... many have been ticketed for illegal trail and Alcohol. They can’t write a dui from what I’ve been told but they can pop you on the cooler. I think at Mack’s the group decided one person would carry the cooler and they would all chip in for the bill if caught. I would just suggest drinking your alcohol at the camp... but that’s just me.
