Yes, there’s creative ways for that. Also, though they do go out there, and they do write tickets, it’s not saturated and in the half dozen times I’ve been there, I’ve never ran into them.
I think the penalties are different depending on the jurisdiction, meaning state or national forest. At Mack's Pines the owner of the campground said it was $80 per cooler and she suggested everyone put their beer in one cooler. I've heard of areas that fine according the the number of cans you have, but didn't find any proof of it. We've never had any problems on the group rides, a lot has to do with the ranger and how the riders maintain. True the one ranger at Mack's Pines is hell bent on nailing people for it. Lots of other rangers are a little more laid back. For the most part if you don't litter, and don't get super s*** faced and blast through areas you shouldn't, they will let it slide a little. They don't want to bust someone just for having a few beers, but if your trashed or if there is an accident they won't show any mercy.
