Here are a couple pics of my new skid plate, I used the factory plates as templates, made a few modifications, re-attached with factory hardware, and this is the result. I might consider ebaying some of these, if I thought there was a demand. The aftermarket plates a pretty pricy.

They are 1/8" aluminum tread plate, so not too heavy. I did not weigh them before putting them on, but I am guessing about 26 lbs total weight for all three sections. Have not nailed down a price, Maybe $250-$300 plus shipping? If make any more I will have them cut with a water jet.

Looks great, did the exact same thing except used 1/8" diamond plate steel. Welded lock washers around mounting holes to recess bolt heads, and added a few more- a little more weight- but def not heavy, I ride in areas with tons of rocks so wanted a little more protection. I honestly hate it that they put that plastic thing on there and call it a skid plate- then want to charge you a ton for an add on OEM one- I did use the SSS offroad a-arm guards- not completely sold on uhmw as a skid but we will see how it holds up.

But after having mine out in the mud, the large holes seem to be important. I also made one out of aluminum, I was wondering when I made it " what in the world are all these holes for?"
But now I sure know! Mud collection was not really on my list!

Yeah you need washout holes, even then if you let it set up and dry for a week it's hard to get it to break up.

You have done a good job. Makes me a little sad considering the price I just recently paid.

I would take a set also. I am sick of sticks poking up through everywhere and skids are my next purchase.
