@Cyberjunk @joeymt33 and I went riding this weekend and ran into a couple of Talon X.

I think the Honda guys were not used to southern friendliness, but they warmed up quick.

They were running at a rate of speed over terrain that would seriously abuse a Pioneer. I was impressed.

I’m 6’3” @200lbs and it was a “sporty” fit. There was more room but linebackers and defensive ends are not gonna like it.

It’s as quiet as a factory 1000 exhaust.

No I didn’t get to do anything but sit in the drivers seat and make motor noises.

It looks SOLID, components look much beefier than a Pioneer.

I’m ready to drive one!

This was not an event or special meeting we just happened to run into them and they were nice enough to let us look at it while they were stopped.

Cool! I met some Honda representives for north America a few months back when i bought mine. Probably 5 or 6 of them, they were from all over, dressed in pressed white shirts. I knew they were up to something (the Talon) because they were at Abernathys, the largest polaris dealer in the country. I made small talk and gave them some Honda sxs stickers. When i handed the stickers to them they smiled and did a little laugh and said "oh yea we know about that site".

The site that does Honda's R & D and keeps them honest! HA!

I ran into one as well today. An X and an R. I may have left aa calling card on the inside drivers roof of the X. Hopefully @Chooglin can confirm it made it thru the night tomorrow.
Here are some pics of the trunk, with brochures as reference, the dip sticks, coil locations, ease of access for air filter.

@Neohio that bed is HUGE for a sport there was a full size spare tied down in each of tge ones we saw and it wasnt wedged in there was room around it.
It really is an impressive machine in the flesh!
And those seats!! Oh my they are soft and comfortable.
That is why I tried to snap a pic with something that can be referenced. Trunk is huge!

Yeah the few seconds I got to sit in them they were actually pretty comfy, the passenger side has nice footing too, I could see wedging myself in if I were my passenger (let’s face it I wouldn’t buy one to be a trailer queen)

For me the layout is nice the shifter is easy to reach the wheel adjusts. Seats were NASTY but they still moved in the tracks. Everything seems reachable if you’re in a 5point harness even if you have t-Rex arms.

I checked but one of them had the key or I would have been seriously tempted to take a trip around the same track I took @snuffnwhisky s YXZ.

It seems like a nicer better laid out machine than the Pioneer. It is aimed at a different market, and honestly I think it will do really well if the power and the power delivery are there. I didn’t get to experience the suspension for myself but watching them go up rough hill I’ve gone up numerous times much slower than they did impressed me in itself especially considering it was the 14” travel X model and not the 20” travel model.

After driving @snuffnwhisky YXZ I don’t see why you need 172hp on trails like we have, you can’t use them all. Yeah it’s fun for a few mins around a track. Suspension and power delivery are going to be where you win here on the actual trail, not with the biggest HP numbers. Yeah you need power for mud but those guys will spend 10k on portals and 40” tires. A $3k aftermarket turbo shouldn’t really be a concern for them with as many mods as they already make considering the turbo models are already about 3k more from other manufacturers.

I got zero pictures but they did show back up after you guys left and I was loading my rig on the trailer. I tried to get some video but it’s pretty crappy and from a distance. I’ll find time soon to put it up.

I did hand them a handful of HondaSXS stickers. They said thank you and said they really wished they had brought a few things for us. They didn’t expect to meet some “normal” people. They said most of the guys they encounter are people that want to tell them how bad the Talon sucks compared to A RZR and take up all their time.

They seemed “busy” or focused but they were friendly. I would have enjoyed getting time to ride with them.

I am pretty excited to see this thing tomorrow, if the sticker is gone tomorrow, I will replace it with a new one (pretty sure I have a few). Thanks for posting, looks like something I need parked in my garage! !
