I need a horn to run off wildlife. We saw a bobcat yesterday and a huge bear print.

I was looking at this button
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0197W7F2C/_encoding=UTF8?tag=sxsweb24-20

Or maybe this button since dash space is limited on the 500

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015X34IP6/_encoding=UTF8?tag=sxsweb24-20

And this horn

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AUYK4EC/_encoding=UTF8?tag=sxsweb24-20

I’m not stuck on this horn or buttons I’m open to suggestions on those too.

I already have the accessory wiring harness it looked like some leads had two wires and some only had one wire.

Can I wire everything to the accessories Harness?

If not can I tie into the winch solenoid under the hood for the hot and get some kind or relay for the horn.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Gary

That switch and horn will work fine...i actually habe the same horn and its done well so far. No relay is needed for it..just a hot ground and an illumination . Personally i would use the small round button

Did you use the accessory harness for the power and ground?

No..i have a 1000..but for that horn no relay os necessary. Just a hot and ground..if you have a dual lighted switch youll need a wire to power the top light be it headlight or key on power.

so for Christmas I got the following items for my horn install. I need some help wiring it up.
I have the Accessory Harness so I want to use that to connect to the switch
I have a winch and I want to steal power from where the battery connects to the solenoid to power my horn. I do not want to run power all the way back to the battery again

From what I have read I think I am suppose to use the Yellow taped wire from the Accessory Harnas to connect to the switch.
Not sure if there are one or two wires in that bundle or not or what post they go to on the switch

I have a fuse holder I think I should connect it to the positive side of the solenoid where the "+" Connects. then connect the other end of the fuse holder to the relay. #30 pin

I Don't know much of anything else. Is this a Positive trigger setup or a Ground trigger setup.

where do all the other wires go?

Mine did not need a relay and guessing your smaller horn will not. Just checked, one horn lead hot via button, second horn lead ground. Mounted bracket to an existing P500 bolt. Mine is a bit different looking horn. Only needed a relay on a bigger air compressor horn which was on my motorcycle. Good luck and welcome to forum.

I was afraid to power the horn from the accessory Harness I though the harness only had enough power to trigger the relay and light the button up. I didn’t want to cook any factory wiring.

I appreciated all the help from this forum

Your horn only shows 1.5 amp. Honda OEM Harness description shows it can power all three accessories, horn, back up alarm, work light. Hope this helps simplify the installation.

Old thread.

A bear has have been stopped with a 9mm, but not many. Of course a 40 S&W is better than 9mm, and a 10mm is better still . . . staying with semi-autos and guns that'll still serve for concealed carry. The big revolvers, 454 Casull etc. are better, of course, but not exactly convenient for every day carry. The average bear charge is from about 25 yards and takes the bear 2 seconds to cover the distance. I think I'd rather have a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70.

I live in black bear country on the eastern flank of the Sierra - - in an old apple orchard. The bears come down and get snockered on fermenting ground apples. They'll break into cars, we don't leave the keys in, no sense in risking having them DUI.

In the short vid, one comes by while I'm in the hot tub. Not shown is a P229 40 with suppressor and laser under the towel on the tub cover. I picked up the gun (not shown in video as I didn't want to upset PETA), the bear stopped and starred at me from 25 feet away. I put the laser back and forth on his eyes. He made the right decision (for both of us) and sauntered off up the mountain. Took awhile for the hairs on my neck to go back down.
