Here is how i did it;
Blue wires go to relays.
Red wires are the switched power (to turn on lights)
Yellow wires are power to light up the switch
Black wires are ground

That was my next question, difference between 2 & 4 four pin switches. Answered!
Anything with a relay and lighted will be a 5,7, or 8 pin switch.

sounds like you have had one or two already lol
Iv'e got wiring on the brain right now! I can see a common ground buses bar or a and loop from one switch to the next with 4 post switches, and run one common ground to battery, but depending on the placement of the fuse panel, will need to run individual possitive wires to switches. And make a bundle out of them with some extras numbered? Hey my99svt am I on the right track?

And make sure you run a few spare wires when you make your runs from front to behind the seat area. you never know when you'll want to add some thing down the road.

With the lighted switches how many pins you need on the switches and do they need to be wired into the head light?

it depends on the switch you buy, the switches I bought have tw0 independant lites in them, the top one is wired to a 12v source controlled by the headlight switch. The lower light is wired so it comes on if the switch is turned on. Most of the switches I use are 6 or 7 pins spst or spdt switches.

How do they wire? Do the 4 or 5 pin switches not have a common ground for all grounds, I understand looping the grounds together, don't under stand the 6 and 7 pins? Thanks!

There should be a model number on the side if it’s a “carling” switch you can google the number and get a wiring diagram.

What is the difference in the two switches?
6 pin is just an on/off switch with 2 independant lights (spst= single pole single throw)
7 pin is on/off/ on with 2 lights (spdt= single pole double throw)
I used the single pole double throw to control my back up lights. In one position the lights will come on when I put the pioneer in reverse, center is off and the other position the lights are on all the time (nice for working behind the machine at night). The lower lamp on the switch will be on when ever the back up lights are on as a visual indicator for me, the upper lamp come on with the head lights.

On your voltage meters, hot direct from batteries and ground from ignition switch?
NO! I may just switch them both, or do you guys have a better way?

Primary you can feed off the ignition power wire, secondary you can feed off the relay that the ignition power wire is turning on. Then they are both switched with the ignition and separate.
