Sorry, kinda long

I've had DISH since 2005. It had very good customer service for problem resolution and reliability, for many years. No complaints.

But.... For over a year, due to financial disputes, I've had no Fox Network. So, no NFL games on Sunday on that channel. No playoffs, and if they get the Superbowl, that either.

Not many MLB playoffs, etc., and no programs on Fox Network at all.

Same story with MeTv. I like some of the older shows that were actually funny and not woke crap. People often said my father was Andy Griffith. There was a problem that arose, and there was a right and wrong and a just solution.

I understand computers, phones, networks, technology.

But, Internet tv was not something I learned about, as I didn't need it.

For high speed 🙄 Internet thru Windstream, I had to have a basic phone. The phone had no long distance, no caller ID provision, no call blocking, etc., couldn't send long distance faxes.

I had a phone line/number on the house and the same in the shop.

For 100. Meg service that was really about 85 Meg, and that non useful phone, I was paying about $115/month. X 2, for home and shop.. $230, and $200 for Dish.

After removing programming and not giving me a discount, DISH just kept raising rates. They offered me like $3! For three months with no guarantee that programming would then return.

Windstream... This is
October 24th. I have had no Internet service since September 27th.

They kept making repair tickets. Tech came out, and said the problem was in the switch, about 1/8th mile away.

Said another tech or their boss would come out and fix everything and I'd be back on line THAT day. Then they closed the ticket. I'd call and they would say YOUR NEW TICKET IS EXPEDITED.

Reality, another, 8+ days and same thing would occur. Another failure, another closed ticket. But, kept billing.

I'm done.

Today I had SPARKLIGHT Internet installed. 600 Meg service and VOI phone with caller ID and unlimited long distance.

I only have the phone as an emergency backup. I live and l alone and after a stroke thought a backup was only prudent.

FINALLY.... I know there are very knowledgeable and experienced people here.

I have , 10 TVs, but really only use two. In the house an LED smart TV and on the shop, an older non smart TV. A Hewlett-Packard plasma with SV HDMI port.

I mainly listen to it while working. Watch only for a replay, when I missed a good play.

I bought two down r 4k devices as they will work with both TVs, but if when I upgrade, I won't have to upgrade the Firestick.

Okay, YOU MAKE THE CALL (like the old commercial).

I was gonna go to YouTube TV, but they don't offer REELZ channel.

I want local three ABC, CBS and NBC. I want the Weather Channel, Fox, NEWSMAX, REELZ, ESPN, DISCOVERY, History, Nat Geo, Animal Planet, Science, Smithsonian.

I like many others, mainly those .

Can anyone suggest besides YouTube TV, what other streaming service am I going to need to get?

If it matters, I'm an Amazon prime member.

I hope this is clear, if not, please ask.

Thank you very much 👂

I had LubeTube TV for a while when we dumped the dish, but they slowly lost some Chanel's (mostly sports i watch) and there price went up. Went to Direct TV stream for a yr and they did the same as LTTV and got worse. Thats why we went to Fubo. So far so good and cheaper. Time will tell

I pay for hulu. I'm a prime member so have those services also. Got rid of dish this summer, because we were tired of all the gross commercials that the kids don't need to be seeing.

Thank you Remington AND everybody.

Y'all have saved me a great deal of time. I kept hitting dead ends of.. it's got this, but not that...Over and over.

I can take from your experiences and discoveries and maybe get my perfect solution.

As usual, I expect as this technology becomes more common AND other things appear.... Prices will go up.

Thank you to one and ALL.

Just remember, internet streaming has been out for a long time.
Unfortunately there is no à la carte
Pic and choose what channels u want and dont. Its all done in packages. They will never have it that way, they make too much money. You just have to pick what suits you best and just roll with it.

^This.

And once you cut the cord, you need to do the same thing with streaming services as (you should be doing) with your auto insurance: Shop around every year. In order to stay competitive, the providers change their services and prices all the time. What was the best deal for the channels you want might not be a year or two later. But you can usually get most of what you want by combining one or two services and a physical HD antenna (the latter depends upon your location).

The previous owners of our house had multiple CAT5 network drops and multiple RG6 coax drops installed in almost every room of the house when they had it built, but they didn't subscribe to CATV. Instead, they had an HD antenna installed on the roof, and that bad boy picks up dozens of free HD broadcast channels. I assume they may have streamed as well, as they did have high-speed Interwebz service.

We had AT&T internet and phones. We are at the linear end of AT&T coverage and had trouble with our phones due to installing a metal roof. We also lost the internet frequently. The wife got Verizon phone service and router for Verizon internet. We got Direct TV with dish so it doesn't use router minutes. It has all the Foxes ,SEC network, ESPN, NBC,CBS,ABC,Discovery,MavTV and I think NFL. We're saving over 100.00 so far but have had zero problems. The phones have worked everywhere we have been. We also have youtube, Netflix, Freevee and MeTv. There is probably more but the wife would know what those are. All 3 of our flat screens have the Firestick.

Sling has MeTv and REELZ for $110/month
Plus $129 activation fee

Peacock TV has them. Can't get a human to get a price.
Many complaints pop up

Philo has me tv in their $25 basic package and add movies and more for 5$ to get REELZ
$30
Can't hardly understand customer service outsourced to islamabad or somewhere

Fubo is $94 and then with sling being over twice, $240 additional cost to add, I'm over dish price.

I kinda feel like I bought a popo that caught on fire

Dish has had a dispute with Fox for over a year.

No football, MLB , playoffs, world series. No METV

I love Fox and the SEC network. I'm a fan of college baseball and football plus NHRA drag racing. We have been satisfied with our selections and service so far.

I bought Sling (both orange and blue packages) plus the sports add-on at the beginning of football season. Imagine my surprise on Saturday when I could not watch my beloved Tar Heels lay an egg at home vs a 1-win UVa because the game was exclusively on the CW network. I've got hundreds of channels, but apparently the CW ain't one of them. How did they end up with a football contract anyway?

Good luck to anyone trying to navigate streaming TV services.
