Got my hess tune installed, get to test it with 4" portals and 35s. Have not seen anyone else with my set up tuned, they are all done on smaller builds or way more heavily built. Really hoping to get the results I was looking for. I did just get a chance to run a little and it does seem stronger. Ran high range in some tight slow trails and it never seemed to lack power. True test is soon to come though

Post your results and what you think of the tune. Did you have the change or fix the speedo within the tune? I am also running 4" portals and 35s but have the Silber Turbo tune and have been thinking of changing it up to fix the speedo and try something new.

Honestly haven't figured out how to actually change anything yet, I was going to get the silber tune but was told it does nothing on the mid range. That's where mine heats up trying to run 30mph in sugar sand. If I keep the pioneer It will be getting a full send kit at some point

There is no fix for the speedo according to hess tech support but they can alter shift points for gear reduction and tire size, just let them know when you order, I was unaware of this when I got mine and dont have time to have them send the correct trans tune before this weekend. Seems fine though in my test by the house, and the power brake test was flawless today, had to try it with my new brass brake pads

they should be able to just send you a tune file, you upload it to the PV3 and then install it.. it isn't that hard

@aauman88 runs portals and has tried every tune there is. He can probably chime in and let you know what he thinks.

I absolutely have every tune known for the 1000. We have a new player in town and I have been helping him perfect his tune for several months. Scott Alvarez at Florida Cracker has the best tune now and he only charges 100$ per tune. Speedo can only be corrected by the 12 o’clock labs corrector. I have 4” 30% portals and running 38’s with zero issues.

The Hess Silber and DynoJet canned tune were all basically the same to me. Made it run cooler and engaged clutches quicker so it had better throttle response but they all had the same problems. They were little stronger low end but they completely fall flat on their face after 3rd gear.

Tell us more about the positives and negatives of the Florida Cracker tune. Sounds interesting just wondering why it’s the best.

Out of the hole power is ridiculous in low range and he has shifting done different when in manual. It no longer downshifts for you unless you come to complete stop then it goes down to first so you try and take off in 2nd or higher. The shifts are much smoother and shift points are better. It doesn’t shift so quick when just cruising yet when you kick it in the a$$ it holds the gear longer. On grass I can kick it from a stop and it will pull front tire off the ground. And all this is on my machine with 38’s and only 30% reduction.

fuel requirements? obviously you are not worried about top end speed but do you know anyone who has this tune that is? I don't drive around at 65 all the time but thats' one spot I feel the Hess tune is lacking. I'd definitely be down to try a tune for $100 depending on fuel requirements and as long as it doesn't hurt low end.

The Hess tune is a step above the Dynojet. I have never tried the Morris or whatever that company is.

I run 93 octane from previous tuner but Scott says at least 91 I think. He has really good communication and will fine tune it for whatever you want. He’s got a video of his machine running 56-57mph in low gear with 31” LT tires. I easily still hit 60 without an issue although with my setup it’s a little sketchy.

All j really need is bottom end power, I may try the cracker tune in the future, but now I have rear diff and ball joint problems, I'm sick of having a big bike, too bad the dumb redneck in me wont let it go, 6" lift has been floating around in my head non stop. Glutton for punishment

I like big bikes too man. Both 1000’s on 38’s and the 500 is getting 35’s.

I'll probably end up buying his tune. $100 is reasonable for a significant increase. I'd love to hear results from someone that gets it on a machine without portals and massive tires. So many variables in a setup with portals and big rubber and IGR or any combination. All I want is to do 50' burnies on 235/75/15's. Is that too much to ask??? LOL
